Do the professors for 780 and 810 seem reasonable in that if I were to start this program and had a vacation for 2 weeks during one of those classes that it would not cause an issue? The program advisor I spoke to couldn’t really answer if I could work ahead or make up work etc.

As a doctoral student, I wouldn't plan for any vacations during a term. Instead I would take a break for that term. 2 weeks out of a 8 or 10 week term is a considerable amount of time to miss. I honestly don't know how anyone could make up that amount of work. I think about the workload I had during my 2 master's degrees and there's no way I could have made up 2 weeks of assignments and stayed current. I couldn't work ahead because the assignments were locked until the week opened. There were numerous assignments with specific windows such as an exam opening at 6pm on Thursday and ending at Saturday 6pm. Some papers were given short windows such as this as well. Deadlines don't change because a student misses them. I see people every term who are shocked that submissions are locked at 11:59pm on the last Sunday of the term at UMPI. Every single term there's at least one person who misses it and freaks out.
