My personal experience is that the Level 8 diploma has high requirement. Of course it is, otherwise it would not be benchmarked at level 8.
A pass does not mean an overall pass (getting 50/100). You need to satisfy all learning outcome in order to get a pass for that module.
Word count is only for reference. You usually need more than that to achieve all the learning outcome.
For me, it is even stricter to some of the university courses, which requires an overall pass only. So be prepared before you apply.
Also, make sure you have access to the references on the assignment brief. They are crucial to your success.
