I have come up with another potential doctoral path for the Master Universitario di Primo Livello. From what I've seen online this is recognized as Level 7 in Malta (which is the basically the same as all of the European levels with a different name, I think?). GCAS in Malta has 2 PHD offerings for €6000 minus whatever scholarship you get. https://gcas.ie/phd-natural-sciences I pinged them asking for confirmation that the Primo Livello would be accepted for doctoral programs. The doctoral offerings are limited and the subject areas on the degrees are...not the best. Neither Natural, Mathematical, and Computational Sciences or Humanities and Social Sciences convey exactly what your area of expertise is at first glance, but the price is right. It's an official degree from Malta and the dissertation has to be 80k-100k words so there shouldn't be any issues having it evaluated as a full PhD anywhere in the world.
