New YourPace Public Policy BA from UMF Powered by UMPI

I appreciate your input.   The catalog does not list which specific science classes qualify for the GEC requirement. My brother completed Sophia Human Biology and lab which was accepted. Sophia Chemistry was initially accepted at UMPI and then at UMF. After the 4th revision to the DPR involving numerous corrections, Jessica said the Chemistry was no longer acceptable. It is still listed as accepted on Sophia's UMPI webpage.

In response to his email, which included his student ID number, my brother was offered support, including tutoring, through two diiferent offices and an invitation for him to come in to meet them. When my brother responded that he would be honored to meet them but was an out of state, online student; all communication ceased. My impression is that UMF is not yet equipped to support online students. Hopefully, that will change.

My brother has been extremely patient. He has jumped through unnecessary hoops for months, first at UMPI, then at UMF. We understand the online BAIS - PP is less than a year old.

Hi Sophia, I wish your brother all the best. I am currently applying for the UMF BA in Public Policy. I am confused by the description of the POS200 and POS400 courses in the academic catalog(see attach), which states “Course Typically Offered: Every 2 years.” Does this mean these courses are only offered once every several semesters? (I understand that not all courses are offered in the same semester within the YourPace system.)

Public Policy is a useful subject but UMF is not ready for YourPace students. Every inquiry my brother made had to be escalated to the relevant department director who consulted with UMPI to determine who will provide which services/support. Grading for Public Policy courses was done by a UMF professor who took more than a week every time. He penalizes students who don't share his political views.  I strongly encourage you to enroll in a different school.  Liberty University is very transfer friendly, has stacking discounts and offers degrees in 200+ majors, including public policy.
