Tuskegee Online PhD in Integrative Public Policy and Development

Tuskegee University, the private land-grant historically Black university founded in 1881 by Booker T. Washington, is making its PhD in Integrative Public Policy and Development available online, Tuskegee’s first online doctorate.

The program is a collaboration between Tuskegee’s College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences and College of Arts and Sciences.

Three areas areas of specialization will be offered within Integrative Public Policy and Development:

Tuskegee University

• Agriculture and Resource Policy: Focuses on agriculture, the environment, natural resources, and related community and rural development issues.
  
• International Development Policy: Emphasizes international rural development in Africa, the African Diaspora, and other regions of the Global South.
  
• History and Public Policy: Focuses on the analysis of history and public policy from Black American perspectives in areas such as education, agriculture, health, business, civil rights, and military, particularly as they relate to Alabama, the South, and the United States.
  

Some details like course listings and tuition appear to be pending publication or available by request. To give a general sense of Tuskegee’s tuition, its 2025-26 master’s-level online tuition is $723 per credit hour.

Located in Tuskegee, Alabama, Tuskegee University is currently US News Regional Universities South #10. It has a $25.6 million annual research spending and is working to attain R2 research university standing.
