Do you mean the questions or answers themselves felt like different? Like different wordings or something? Did you score about as you expected to anyway?
Just curious about this, since I was hoping to take one more exam before Christmas, but it is one of the updated ones and I don’t want to be unprepared or caught off guard if I can help it. The wording and questions all seemed like my other tests. I didn’t notice any difference in that regards, although I didn’t know the test had changed at the time. The look of the test was a little different, but it didn’t change the actual format or navigation of the test.
I took two tests - Social Sciences and English Lit. It seems like the SS was not updated and the Eng Lit was based on the link. I was very surprised by the questions and percentage of topics for the SS, but I’m guessing that was more my fault in not understanding the breakdown. I honestly thought that was the one that was changed. I thought I had failed or just barely passed, but I ended up passing by a large margin. I’m still not sure how that happened! The English Lit seemed to stick to the breakdown of topics that were there before. If anything, it seemed slightly more geared towards analyzing and interpreting than the breakdown stated. But that may have just been my particular test. That one was easier than I was expecting and I passed by a larger measure than I had thought.
in any event, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 9 big credits!!

Distribution Comparison
To compare the “old” exam distribution of topics against the “new” distribution, I’ve turned to my 2016 Official CLEP Study Guide and am comparing it against the CLEP Official Website’s overview page which shows current distributions.
I’ve done a careful comparison of all exams from 2016, and found that 3 exams have had distribution changes. To save space, I’ve not copied the entire exam distribution, just the changes.

Hey all testers!
Just got this alert via a CLEP email group. Here is what the email said:
"Big news- we just saw a MAJOR revision of half of the ENTIRE CLEP CATALOG. 16 of their exams set to expire November 30, 2018, just appeared in the ACE catalog as revised and updated!! Only after we start hearing back from parents will we have a better idea of "how" these changes impact content. Please share in your CLEP communities immediately.

ACE is the third-party review organization that colleges use to decide if a class or exam is "worth" college credit or not. In other words, CLEP exams are worth college credit because they have undergone review by ACE.
When ACE reviews an exam, they always reassign a date range for that review. At the ending date, the exam must be reviewed again or removed. The exam can be renewed and extended when there isn't a significant change in content. As an example, we've watched the Biology exam renew since 2001. As such, we can feel confident that the exam has not changed that much since 2001 because the date simply keeps getting extended for another 3-year cycle. (indicating no change)
It's an imperfect system, but one that we can use to watch what the College Board is doing behind the scenes. They don't usually announce exam revisions, but we can figure out if we watch the dates in the ACE database.
Some exam revisions are significant (when Social Sciences and History completely changed their content in 2016) or slight. We don't know what is coming, but we can report what we learn as a group. This kind of feedback loop helps all parents help each other.
All date ranges and the history of date ranges are available by searching the ACE Database.
Currently, 33 exams are evaluated for college credit."

So this is the info I received. The author of this email is Jennifer Cook-DeRosa, and the posting date was Dec. 4, 2018. The author hosts a website called Homeschooling for College Credit and can be found at this link: https://homeschoolingforcollegecredit.com/
Wanted to share this as quickly as possible! Many of you may already have heard about it through other media, but I wanted to share this for those who may not.
I guess we'll just have to see what these revised ones are like. Looks like it's occurred before.
Anyway. Hope everybody's having a good fall semester!

Interesting. I purchased the 2019 CLEP study guide for all courses and have been studying for American Government first. I did go through the Modern States course and because of this thread went back to compare the course breakdown and here's what I see:
- the 2019 CLEP study guide breakdown no longer matches what CLEP has posted as the revised version Dec 2018
(honestly, you would think that if they knew this was going to be revised that they would revise the 2019 publication)
So the practice test in here is no longer weighted correctly.
- Modern States breakdown DOES match the new course breakdown (I downloaded their information November 2nd) So, at least for this course, Modern States already got the memo.
- the primary update here is in the Federal Courts which were moved into a smaller weighted group with Civil Liberties and Civil Rights and that area was upped by 5% to account, I imagine, for the added content. I take this to mean there will be less focus on knowing specific Judicial case law and its effects BUT there will be an increase in questions pertaining to INSTITUTIONS AND POLICY PROCESSES: PRESIDENCY, BUREAUCRACY, AND CONGRESS since this is the area that the Federal Courts was removed from and is still the biggest area for the exam. Also note that the area of Political Beliefs and Behavior was reduced by 5% to balance the move of the Federal Courts so I would expect to see fewer questions on Beliefs/Behavior.

Have you looked at the Human Growth Development, Business Law, and US History 1? I ask because Modern States posted to my Facebook group that CLEP did not change their distribution of topics (incorrect) thus no revision to the MS program was needed (also incorrect). However, I know that their social media person isn't necessarily someone that would have that information at hand, but I thought it was strange that they came to my page and took the time to post about them NOT changing.
