10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree
dfrecore Wrote:The bad thing about registering for TECEP's is that you have a window in which to register for the next term (currently, you have from now until 10/10 to register for the November term, which starts 11/2). I'm not sure why they do this (this is not just for TECEP's, it's for all courses - I just took a cc course that lets you register up through the date the class starts, why can't TESC do that??). So you kind of have to plan ahead for your TECEP's.

Regarding the study material, the TECEP page has a link to every TECEP, and if you click on it, you can get the description of the exam, which includes the textbook they've based the material on. The good news - the outline is very exacting to the material covered. And, the textbooks are usually a past edition of the textbook, saving you hundreds of dollars. I have been able to find the correct edition of every TECEP exam I need to take for less than $10 used on Amazon or another used textbook website.

The other good thing - you can order the textbook and start studying even if you aren't able to register or it's before your term starts. So, you could potentially study ahead of time and be ready to take the exam on day 1 of the term (although I think you can register with ProctorU to take it, but have to give them several days notice). But, you can still take the test very early on in the term if you're ready.

makes somewhat of sense...I just feel like I should register something so I maintain the 2015 catalog correct? even if I move at 1 tecep a term or a snails pace I want to make sure I dont have to change things around now at this hour. thanks for the tip on the textbooks...

Hello,

In reading over your thread I noticed you may be in need of texts for upcomng TECEP exams. I have eBooks in PDF format (readable on any electronic device) for the following TECEP exams at very affordable prices: BUS-311, BUS-421, CIS-107, COM-210, ECO-112, FIN-331, JOU-110, MAR-321, MAR-322, MAR-323, OPM-301, POS-101, PSY-270, PSY-350, SOC-210.

Take care!

I'm surprised a member on this site is pm'ing someone trying to make money. If they have pdf versions of these e-books, you can torrent these the same way that they did for free using the same torrent websites. Just know that it is considered illegal and copyright infringement, and there have been some companies known to track and sue people.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I see what you mean...so start ordering let's say two tecep material now for the 11/2 start date and be ready to take them right around the beginning of the term date. I looked at marketing and I may go with advertising and sales management since they are both 100% multiple choice and the questions of sales management just seemed to fit my eye a bit better from the samples. thanks a bunch for the help

I'm thinking of starting a new thread now to focus on the discussion of the tecep's since that is where I am at however I will ask here and then see if I should start a new thread

I want to start with one of the electives to get an understanding of the tecep and the process...did a forum search for tecep and kept seeing something on saylor pop up.

Personal and Social Responsibility Elective
World History from 1600 to Present (HIS-126) This is only offered as a TECEP exam
Introduction to Comparative Politics (POS-282) This is only offered as a TECEP exam
Psychology of Women (PSY-270) This is only offered as a TECEP exam
Marriage and the Family (SOC-210) This is also offered as a TECEP exam
Environmental Ethics (ETH-210) This is only offered as a TECEP exam

my questions are:
1: is there a central location to discuss teceps?
2: instantcert is not geared at tecep material and there is only a few teceps on there correct? (I looked at there site)
3. from my list of tecep elective aboves is there an easier than another or is easier relative to the person and their background taking the exam?
4. I was under impression MC was the way to go but it seems that having some essays people like because it can give leeway in terms of passing the exams?
5. last and probably most important I kept stumbling across SAYLOR. for ETH-210 it references SAYLOR and ive seen it on the site...are they a free resource that when the tecep corresponds to that free material I should try to use that resource or are tecep materials relatively inexpensive that I should go for tests that are easier and more appealing to my eye?

I agree. I highly recommend you start a new thread with these courses in mind.

I know this is a curvball but if I changed to liberal arts for example, could I be done faster and or work on easier TECEP's? I've come to realization I just want this to be the fastest/easiest way possible and I may have wasted everyone's time helping me but the thought of 8 tecep's now that I see the subject matter is daunting.

TECEPs are a lot easier than people seem to think. My spouse and I both passed TECEPs with little study. You only need to get 60% right and depending on the test, most if not all the questions are multiple choice.

Believe in yourself, even if you don't pass one or two exams it's like $100, you eat in a couple nights.

In looking at your credit distribution, you will probably have to take a bunch of liberal arts exams or straighterlines. Just try a test or two, then make your decision.

if I take one tecep now for the november registration/semester pass or fail I have 12 months where I will stay enrolled in the current period correct? I have a break now on my CFP coursework until november so I am thinking of taking one TECEP and then holding off until im done with the CFP as I won't be able to juggle both, but would want to maintain the same requirements and registration and be able to pick up when I'm done with the CFP education/test in July 2016.

I am taking 9 TECEP's, 5 of them require a 70% to pass, and 3 of them are not all (or any) multiple choice (essays or short answers required). So the pass rate is a lot higher than CLEP/DSST. Not saying that it's not doable, but 70% isn't a walk in the park for some of these exams.
