AAS at Pierpont Vs WVNCC (or other WV CC's)
#21
icampy Wrote:I gave up on them. No comms, and months waiting for my credits to get put in (wvncc)

My transcript is still not updated. They don't have my SJSU courses input at all, they have my TESU transcript but don't have any of the TECEP's I passed on there, and I haven't heard from anyone about my graduation form.

Now, the place where i used to go to be able to see what was going on with my degree has been down for 3 days.

No idea what is going on with this school!!!

Found a list of May 12th WVNCC graduates.

Some of you may be surprised to find your name among the graduates, despite limited communication from WVNCC.

Some info for individuals wanting to get the BOG AAS at any West Virginia Community College.

The BOG AAS is only applicable if you have 12 credits from a regionally accredited college or university. I emailed all 9 WVCC's and there are no exceptions.
Another requirement is that, the individual has to be out of high school for 2 years, all other credits are transferable. Some, not all will waive the 3 credit residency requirement.

What people can do is get an AA/AS or ASBA on route to the Bachelors from TESU. Just decide on which bachelors degree you want to get.
You can complete all the courses using CLEP/DSST, Straighterline/Study.com and the TESU Capstone course, that's all you needs actually.

If you take courses at Study.com, they have an affiliation/partnership with TESU, the pricing drops down to $1800 for waiver, $1098 for capstone and they waive the $300 cornerstone.
In Progress: Walden MBA | TESU BA Biology & Computer Science
Graduate Certificate: Global Management & Entrepreneurship, ASU (Freebie)

Completed: TESU ASNSM Biology, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited 2017)
Universidad Isabel I: ENEB MBA, Big Data & BI, Digital Marketing & E-Commerce
Certs: 6Sigma/Lean/Scrum, ITIL | Cisco/CompTIA/MTA | Coursera/Edx/Udacity

I still think an AA/AS at TESU is too expensive ($4198). You could save $710 by getting the same AA at COSC ($3488), aligned with TESU's requirements so that if you end up at TESU for your BA/BS, you don't lose a single credit (even COSC's cornerstone course will come into TESU as a free elective if nothing else).

Isn't it $1098 less for the AA at TESU which doesn't have capstone?

I compared from a spreadsheet I made for someone:
- a COSC AA that is TESU-aligned is $1131 for the cornerstone + $607 for fees + $1750 for courses (assuming 15 courses at $100 each, a science lab at Rio Salado/SL for $250, free Insurance Ethics, NFA & TEEX). Total cost $3488.
- a TESU ASBA using similar courses plus a few extra minus the science lab would be $2207 for fees + $1900 for courses (assuming everything was $100 each except the Ethics course and 2 TEEX courses for the free electives). Total cost $4198.

I did not realize I was comparing an AA to an ASBA the first time around, the AA at TESU will be somewhat cheaper because you have space for more free electives, thus more free courses (TEEX & NFA).

Also, you could get the cost for both COSC and TESU down by utilizing ALEKS, Shmoop, multiple courses in a month at SL/Study.com, and Saylor - but it would go down the same amount at each school so that's a wash.

The other way you can get COSC pricing down quite a bit is to use as may FEMA courses as possible. That knocks another $360 off their cost that you can't reduce TESU's degree by.

COSC requires a science w/lab, so that lab adds to the cost no matter where you take it (except at a local CC I suppose). That reduces the savings.

There sure is! https://em-study.com/emsfema/article.php...icle_id=62

I highly recommend for people going for an AA/AS at COSC, to also go for the PDS Cert for FEMA.

Update as of 7/5/2017

WVNCC (VP of Academic Affairs - Jill) informed me that as of summer 2017, they now require 15 credits from WVNCC to meet their residency requirement

Pierpont (Dir of Assessment - Nancy) confirmed no residency requirement needed and no costs involved (still need to meet the CC credit requirement from other schools)

WVU Parkersburg (Program Specialist - Kim) despite website showing 15 credits, she states that only 3 credits at WVUP are needed, along with the other CC credits from other schools (out of state tuition puts that cost around $1,000)
