I started in July and here I am 5 months later having finished the equivalent of 3 semesters worth of college. I took a couple months off to assist my wife with our newborn. Considering that I am active duty Navy I feel great about Instant Cert and the amount it has helped me speed up the process of getting my degree. I know now that using my GI Bill when I get out in two years for graduate school as opposed to a bachelors is finally feasible. i just wanted to share and encourage others to utilize these resources as much as possible.

Have you thought about trying to finish graduate school while in using TA? If you finish you do not have to worry about college funds for newborn if you have the option to pass it along to him.

I have thought about that but I don't believe there'll be time. I think I'm due for another LONG deployment in the aviation community. If I can then I absolutely will.

They kind of do you dirty with regards to passing it on to spouses or children. Last time I heard you can only do that when you reenlist and you have to reenlist for 4 or 6 years or something like that.
Like everything that rule is subject to change, so I would check the current policy.

Yeah, they want another 6 years from me before I can even apply to transfer the benefit. I think my sons will benefit more from me making officer than passing the GI Bill to them. Since my original post i've completed another 21 units. Again, I feel great about this. Keep pushing everyone!

It is a healthy addiction. There is nothing like it. Do take your time and learn the content for each of the exams though. It is a great time and you will miss it when it is over.
