Aleks Intermediate Algebra

Blue is what you assessed at, green is what you've completed in work on your pie. So you're currently at 51% of the course completed (blue + green). Unfortunately, only the 46% blue score counts toward your 70% completion goal. You just need to keep plugging away until you assess at 70%.

Ok- Great! Thank for the information. I am now at 54%.. I'll just keep at it until I assess 70! :o

How long did it take you to get to 54? I'm just trying to get an approximate how long this course could take time wise

The time required is related to how much you know and how well you do on the first couple assessments. I spent probably 4 hours on College Algebra, a lot of that was before I knew you could request more assessments, and just getting used to the ALEKs format of things. I then knocked out Intermediate Algebra and Precalc combined in about 2-3 hours (hard to remember exact times also I've taken high level math classes recently which helped speed things up since I wasn't relearning everything).

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum I did Stats in 40ish hours and every minute was a struggle, see my review of it -->(http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...bling.html)

Also, we did this, and once we went through 70% of the material, it automatically gave us an assessment test (we didn't have to do anything). So just keep plugging away at the lessons! You can do it!!

Intermediate Algebra definitely took us less than 2 weeks (don't remember exactly how long since it was a while ago)... which is fantastic for a math course. We wanted to get it done on our free trial period (which I think is one month), so we buckled down and did almost nothing else until we scored 70% on our assessments - obviously one of us completed faster than the other, but I think we were both done in a week and a half. That's the way to knock out your math courses!! Big Grin

Does Aleks save your work on the 48 free trial or do you have to start all over again when you sign up as paying member

When you take the 48 hour free trial and passed the assessment over 70% can we use that towards the ACE?

When you guys signed up for Aleks, did you select "continuing education" or "higher education" from the drop down menu? Or does it not matter? Beginning Algebra is under both.

yes! Just set your ACE account up first so you can save time.

Absolutely matters! Great question!

Drop down "higher ed" and only take the ones that are indicated ACE for credit. BTW their new website is awful. I tried to go in and pull up the page for you, or a list or something, it's all over the place since they were sold. You'll have to dig- but each of the classes eligible for ACE says it, adn if it doesn't SAY it, it won't count.
