A few countries provide for free college. In exchange for service, the US military will pay for college with no debt if you play your cards right. They can give you a free degree at their own military academies with no debt. Some states' community colleges aren't that cheap such as compared to California. There are a few states where the vocational school is free to local residents while the community college costs a lot. I can see why your mentor wants you to try harder or your thesis isn't as strong as you think.

Since making this post last month, I had a talk with my mentor.  Essentially, he is a proponent of student loan debt forgiveness and also a proponent of college being free, such as public schools being extended to include college.

Also, he has indicated that he believes that college isn't for everyone, and people need to stop being pushed towards it, if they aren't ready.

My son is at the UNF School of Engineering, and his Rhetoric in Writing professor gave a lecture this week about how college doesn't necessarily equal a job and ROI is many times just not there.  I am glad to see Academia starting to get real.  Maybe we can finally fill the millions of unfilled manufacturing jobs and close the trade skill gap, if we quit baking it into our culture that you need 4 years of College -- or bust.

As for my project, my Chapter draft grades are coming up to the 'A' range, after a slight adjustment of the topic focus.  Happy to see it coming to a close in the next two weeks and ready to move on to a Grad school somewhere.

Thanks for the input.
