I am going to take my first CLEP test tomorrow which is Analyzing & Int Literature. I did the three Peterson's practice tests and learned literary devices. I find I struggle when asked what the tone of the poem is. I'm pretty nervous about this test. On peterson's practice tests I initially got 41% (not knowing anything) then 50% and 59%. What do you think? Should I be worried? What is the minimum passing grade? What are some last minute things I should do? Any specific poems or poets I should be looking up? THANK YOU!

Ah don't worry about it, this was my first one as well. I scored around 50 something on Peterson's as well. The test did take most of my time, so be sure to not spend too much time on any question, make your best guess and move on, go with your first guess. Once you are all done, review any that needed to take more time to figure out and complete it. I passed fine, don't remember my score, but I did go to the last minute and was more stressed than I should have been. I did the Peterson and then took the test, but did not study for this one and am not a writer or reader of poetry or literature, just use common sense. Let us know how you did!

Don't worry about anything, but be aware of time. As Sirjason write, put down your best guess, mark the question to come back to if time is available, and move on. As to the tone, subvocalize it. (I think that's the term a mean.) Without making a sound, read it as though you were speaking aloud. How does it sound? Sometimes "hearing" it answers that question. Enjoy yourself. You're hours away from 6 credits!
