Does every college grant 3 credits for the humanities CLEP?
#1
Back when I was an instacert subscriber and using the forum in preparation for the exam, it seemed as though every other member on here had received 6 humanities credits for this CLEP. My school only awarded 3, and it just so happens that I'm 3 credits short of graduation. Really frustrated. It's the same with other CLEPs. Most schools seem to grant 6 credits for analyzing lit, mine only gives 3. And it's a community college too. I'm ready to make an appeal

Earlier last year, the ACE recommendation for a bunch of CLEPs including A&I went down from 6 to 3. You will be very lucky if you get 6 from any school today for the downgraded exams.

I agree it's going to be a bit hard to appeal something when a school has set that standard or equivalency requirement for transfer. You can try your appeal and see if they'll budge, but you are just one course away, take something quick and simple, then you're done!

The only way that I can see you'd have a case to get 6 instead of 3 is if it was listed as 6 WHEN YOU TOOK IT. In some cases, colleges use your test date instead of the date you enroll. It's worth a shot- but if it's always been 3 at your school, there isn't a lot you can do. Sorry! Sad

I agree with Jennifer, each school makes their own decisions on these things. You can't base an appeal on what other schools give, or on what ACE recommends.
