Is anyone else taking the Capstone with Bari Courts in June? (I have the answer to the other questions.)



I know others say to have your topic picked ahead of time.  Honestly, how/where do you begin to pick a topic?  Having never done anything like this before, it is difficult to know where to begin?  I have read most things on here about it, but I am still at a loss.  I know the topic is probably the most important part, but does the professor help?  What suggestions do you have to read or help?  I would imagine so many papers have been done it is difficult to find something original. Any links you have would be very helpful.

Your title says "business capstone"

Are you taking the business capstone or the liberal arts capstone?  The liberal arts capstone is where you pick the topic.

For the business capstone, they give you a few options and you choose one.  From my experience, I'm just going to tell you to bite the bullet and choose 1 and get 'er done.  I spent way too much time agonizing over the topics, wasting that time when I could have just gone with whatever and finished it.  So don't agonize -throw a dart, and run with whichever one it lands on.  That's how much it matters.

This is excellent advice.  Even though I saw this before on another post of dfrecore's, I didn't heed it 100% and got myself into a jam.  The topic I chose, although interesting to me, was way over my head and I burned through a week trying to write about it.  Don't do that - pick something that you are comfortable with and just write according to the rubric and you will be fine.  

As far as suggestions go, I think you'll be a little more comfortable after the first week of class begins and you get your first case study under your belt.  For me, I watched the case studies and added what we learned that week into a rough outline so that when it came time for me to write the paper, I had an idea of what needed to be included.  My experience with Dr. Courts has been a positive one, so I am confident that if you reach out to him for help, he will guide you.  Good luck!
