CLEP Spanish - Any ideas for study?
#1
I'm planning on taking CLEP Spanish, but I will need to study. I'm not a native speaker and haven't taken Spanish classes lately; just high school Spanish and some language tapes many years ago. Does anybody have any study method ane/or resource tips?

I have the REA Clep Spanish, but I'm not comfortable with it. I'm considering Sparknotes 101: Spanish - it may be just what I need before the REA book.

On a side not, the testing center where I took my other CLEP tests informed me that many of the people taking the CLEP Spanish are native Spanish speakers - not encouraging!

Any advice is appreciated!

FYI - I'm watching the Standard Deviant's Spanish videos. Any other advice?

I am also studying for this exam and am currently using REA's book along with these other resources. Hope these help.

Go to your local library and inquire about NetLibrary access. Once you have access - goto eAudioBooks and download the Pimsleur Spanish Series - Most excellent for comprehension.

wfb0l2c - Thanks for the response/advice! I haven't logged in for a while, so I'm sorry for the delayed response.

I saw the Destinos on VHS at a local library, but wasn't sure whether they were helpful. I'll check them out now that you recommend them. My library has the Pimsleur on CD and I've been plodding through it. Have you done all three levels?

I'll also check out the other websites that you mention. Thanks, again.

DanK,

Yes, I have worked my way through Pimsleur Spanish I - III, all 90 lessons. I believe the REA book along with its CDs, will be sufficient preparation for the CLEP. I have some other web-links on my desktop that I will add to this thread sometime this week. I recommended the Destinos series to help with developing one's ear.
