COSC BA Liberal Arts
#1
Hello! I just found out about the big 3 the other day, and would love to get a degree this way! I would like to quickly and cheaply get a BA to be able to teach ESL abroad legitimately. From what I've gathered COSC is the cheapest of the three, and a BA in liberal arts would be the easiest to get. Is this correct? If so does anyone out there have a good degree plan laid out for this? And my understanding is that you can complete all of the courses aside from capstone and corner stone using CLEP, DSST, UExcel, TECEP, saylor.org, study.com, FEMA, shmoop.com, Davar, Straighterline, Penn Foster, ALEKS, Sophia Learning and other sources. Is this correct as well? Also all in all it should cost about 7k USD it sounds like? I'm sorry if these questions have been asked a bunch already, but thank you for your help! Big Grin

Hi daharamu!
COSC is almost always the cheapest.
Indeed you'll transfer in all the credits except for the capstone and cornerstone. Most will use CLEP, Straighterline, Study.com, Saylor, ALEKS, CSM and Sophia. The price of COSC and the providers will change based on your existing credit, choice of provider and speed.
Do you have existing credit?

That's awesome to hear! Thank you for your reply! Big Grin   I do have existing credits, but I think I will have to talk with someone from the school to see if they'll transfer, since I've been studying outside of the US for almost a year. Only 2 courses from the US at a community college, so I think those should transfer.

You'll need to get your existing credit from outside the US evaluated by WES or another approved supplier. Next you can get your evaluation from the schools.

Ok great, thank you! I had no idea, I guess I just assumed you could have the transcript sent to the university lol.

Be sure to pick the right supplier and product in order to be able to receive evaluations from multiple schools.

Gotcha, good point, thanks! Looks like for COSC that would be the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) and World Education Services (WES).

So at this point I'm pretty set on going to COSC and starting to take CLEPS and what not to get my way through a degree. Does anyone recommend a BA program there in particular, one that would be on the easy side perhaps? Do I just choose from Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Cyber Security, Early Childhood Education, Health Care Administration, Health Information Management, Nursing, Psychology, Public Safety Administration, or Sociology as listed on their programs page under Bachelors Degree Programs? https://www.charteroak.edu/prospective/programs/
