I need 6 more credits for my English area study electives at TESU. Anyone know the easiest/least expensive upper level courses or tests out there? What do y'all recommend? My sister said she was able to use the Excelsior Literacy Instruction exam for her English area study elective, but an academic adviser I spoke with today said that shouldn't have worked since it's an education test. I need to find my sister's academic evaluation list so I can see who was right. I would MUCH rather take a test, even a difficult one like literacy instruction, than take another course! Anyway...I'm so ready to be done with school. Just 6 more credits!

It'd be helpful to know what courses you've already taken for your English area of study.

Survey of Literature:
British Literature CLEP (6 LL)
Analysis and Interpretation of Literature:
Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP (3 LL here, 3 in free electives)
Non-Western Literature:
Survey of World Literature ENG2256 from U of Idaho (3)
English Electives:
One Writer's Vision ENG393 from TESU (3)
Modern American Usage ENG322 from BYU (3)
Shakespeare ENG403 from Adam's State (3)
American Literature CLEP (3 LL here, 3 in free electives)
I only have 9 upper level credits in this bunch, so 6 more upper level credits are left. I know the way the CLEP credits are split up is kind of weird, but that's how it shows up on my academic evaluation from TESU.
Oh! I forgot about the capstone...still need to take that. So, 9 credits left, not 6.

I'm not aware of any tests that qualify as upper-level English electives at TESU. ALL of my upper-level credits have been courses, unfortunately. I have the UEXCEL Literacy test as 6 free elective credits and TESU transcribes it as EDU-321.
If you have not taken One Writer's Vision (Jane Austen) from TESU, I definitely recommend it...it's a 12-week course, but it's easy and extremely fun. APU offers several literature courses that transfer as upper-level and are only 8-week courses. 8-week courses can be intense, but they are over quickly, which is nice. :-) There is also a BYU literature course that transfers as upper-level. It's an independent study course, which technically means you could get it done very quickly if you have the time to devote. Let me know if you want more info on the classes I have taken.

Worth adding to that list (although more expensive @ ~$800):
UND Online: ENGL315 - Shakespeare
Unfortunately, it's a full-term course rather than exam (but self-paced in that there are no due dates). Looks like there are no exams (and thus no proctoring to deal with), but rather 9 written assignments.
COMPELTED
CLEP: Calculus (75), Precalculus (71), Info Sys and Comp Apps (78), College Mathematics (63), College Algebra (65).

UND Ind. Study: Discrete Math
APU/AMU: Linear Algebra, Mathmatical Modeling
TECEP: Nutrition

This one may not work for you, but I thought I'd put it out there. Tor College Credits has a course that NCCRS recommends for upper level credit, ENG-104.

Thank you all so much! This has been super helpful in planning out the last bit of my degree. Now I'm looking into the courses offered from CSU that dfrecore mentioned. Thanks again!
