Degree plan review - I could use a bit of help

First of all thank you for all the experience and knowledge, which all of you are sharing here on the forum. It has been extremely helpful and I hope that my degree plan for the TESU BSBA General Management has taken in as much of it as possible.

I have used the standard plan from dfrecore (Thank you dfrecore for your help and for responding to my PM questions) as a basis but I have been struggling a bit with the general education electives. I would be interested in any recommendations you may have for that section which may make it easier to complete. I am concerned about the precalculus (had math some 25 years ago last time, so not sure I remember much) - are there any good alternatives which I have overlooked?

I am aware that I only have 2 exams per month with Study.com but it is, as dfrecore pointed out, possible to take other classes and just not do the final exam and take it on e.g. Saylor or even CLEP, which is what I have in mind to do to optimize costs.

The plan on the TESU web site shows only one 3 credit course in Math but with the requirement to have College Algebra or Quantitative Business Analysis within Intellectual and Practical Skills section, which I have with MAT-121 and then I have the statistics requirements covered with STA-201 Principles of statistics in the Math section as per TESU requirement, but did I do that right?

Finally, do I fulfil the UL requirements? I was not able to find that on the TESU...

To respond to the question I know the answer too, UL requirements are set in your AOS only and not Gen Eds. You need 12 UL in your AoS.


Stats will take up your Math Requirements
College Algebra will go into your Quantitative Literacy Requirement
Any additional math credits will go under Gen Ed (College Mathematics CLEP might be a great option for you) 6 credits and they cover gen ed. College Math CLEP is pretty basic and if you have higher math courses done this could be a breeze 6 credits.

If you are on the Study.com Scholarship you only get 2 exams per month, if your on a membership plan you can purchase additional exams for $70 which makes study.com much more valuable. Also if your on the study.com scholarship and you want to jump up your timeline you can do a pay version at the same time and take 4 per month.

After Spreadsheet was added : First thing I noticed is you don't seem to be utilizing Shmoop for more then 3 credits. You can get all 9 of your Human Culture credits done here and drop two of the study.com courses. You can get all 9 credits for 85$ and save $200

Second Get on ALEKS like now and do your maths, you could save a ton of money right now if you get them done, They are not hard to complete. It will fill in your Quantitative Lit, Math, and 2 gen eds if you do them all. You should at least do the first two as you can get the gen eds elsewhere if you wanted.

You are two credits short of the 120, you cant bypass the 120 requirement.

Last do you have access to a CLEP testing center you could save some time and money if you utilize some of there easier test.

That sounds really good. I did not see the $70 per exam on their homepage when picking the package. I am on a normal college acceleration paid subscription, so that option will probably be available to me I think. I will try to see what I can find out.

Some of the "lower level" CLEPs are definitely worth doing. Marketing and Management are two of the easiest CLEP exams too, I took Marketing pretty much Cold and got a 59, its a lot of common sense as I heard Management is the same way. But 6 credit cleps can save you a lot of time and money.

I would use Study.com for courses you can't find elsewhere for cheap (Global Management, Principles of Finance) and study with them to take Management and Marketing Saylor exams, to get the most bank for your buck.

If you don't mind testing, and live close, and the testing fees aren't too high, then testing is a good option. I would definitely take the College Comp with Essay CLEP (6cr and gets you credit for both English I & II), and the Analyzing & Interpreting Lit CLEP (another 6cr and gets your Info Lit requirement out of the way plus 3 out of the 9cr needed in Knowledge of Human Cultures area).

Your 12cr of UL required are in the AOS; there are tons of options, but here are some of the options:

ACC-301 Applied Managerial Accounting (Study.com)
ACC-401 Advanced Accounting (Study.com)
ACC-303 Cost Accounting (SL's Managerial Accounting)
ACC-201 Intermediate Accounting (SL's Financial Accounting)
ACC-421 Federal Income Taxation (TECEP)

MAR-441 Digital Marketing & Advertising (Study.com)
MAR-321 Marketing Communications (TECEP)
MAR-322 Sales Management (TECEP)
MAR-323 Advertising (TECEP)

You also must choose 3 out of the 4 areas (MAN, ACC, MAR, FIN) and 4 out of the 6 courses must be UL. If a course/exam is not specifically listed as MAR, ACC, or FIN, then it's considered MAN.
