If you haven't taken any courses at TESU, then you won't have a GPA. For transfer courses, you just have to make 2.0, which you have.

In that policy it says you need to have a gpa of 2.0 or higher, so confused if this qualifies.

I don't really want to register for the December capstone if I don't have to.
There's no mention that a course must be taken at TESU to make 2.0 GPA. Transfer courses are already required to be 70% in order for them to be a pass and transferred in.

Yes, that's the question. Worst case, you'd have to take and pass one course before taking the capstone, probably the new cornerstone. We won't know until somebody tries and gets told yes or no.

I have already taken the cornerstone, but that is just credit. I sent them an email to inquire.

This seems a bit odd that a course would have to be taken at TESU by Jan 1, 2019 all of a sudden in order for you to take a capstone course. That seems a bit sudden and doesn't really make sense.

I agree.  I am wondering if they meant July 1 instead of January to coincide with the new cornerstone policy.

They could really mean January, look at Shmoop. In days TESU changed their policy. I think someone flunked this miserably for them to decide on such short notice.

This is strange cause before TESU made most changes on catalog year change..

I had emailed them about registering for the capstone and obtaining the SDC discount literally last week. They mentioned letting them which term I was interested in signing up for, no mention about taking a course at TESU to have a actual numbered GPA score prior.

All it says is that someone must meet 2.0 GPA on this policy. If you are transferring in "credit" that means you are meeting a 2.0 GPA by obtaining 70% on the course, which is why it says GPA met on the academic evaluation. This is what I gather. I think we are reading too much into this.

This should coincide with the updated Capstone/Cornerstone requirement. Before there was a waiver of the Cornerstone by having 104 credits transferred in, because of that change of no longer accepting waivers, they're making people take the course when they are around that 104 credit range - that's my guess, and of course, they want to have more people take the Capstone when they're "ready" and more knowledgeable after taking more college-level courses.

Update: I don't know why you all are getting so frantic about one single change from TESU. It's an update to their policies and we know they change so often compared to the other two (COSC/EC) or even WGU. This is not the game changer for you!

Anyways, don't fret. You can take the January Term Capstone OR the February Term Capstone as the registration dates are available before the change to both terms. I still suggest to those who are not ready for the Capstone to take the February one. If you are ready and have almost completed your degree requirements, then the January term is what I recommend.

Capstone Policy

Effective January 1, 2019, Baccalaureate students will not be permitted to register for a capstone course unless they have 100 credits applied toward the requirements for the declared degree and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

January 2019 Term
Course registration: Nov. 16-Dec. 15, 2018
Late registration: Dec. 16-31, 2018
Term Start Date: Jan. 1, 2019
Deadline for 75% refund: Jan. 7, 2019
Deadline for 50% refund: Jan. 14, 2019
Deadline for 25% refund: Jan. 21, 2019
Midterm Exam Week for select courses: Feb. 11-17, 2019
Final Exam Week for select courses: March 18-24, 2019
Term ends: March 24, 2019

February 2019 Term
Course registration: Dec. 21, 2018-Jan 12, 2019
Late registration: Jan. 13-Feb. 3, 2019
Term Start Date: Feb. 4, 2019
Deadline for 75% refund: Feb. 10, 2019
Deadline for 50% refund: Feb. 17, 2019
Deadline for 25% refund: Feb. 24, 2019
Midterm Exam Week for select courses: March 18-24, 2019
Final Exam Week for select courses: April 22-28, 2019
Term ends: April 28, 2019

So, in essence, take either term capstone and graduate in June of 2019. You can try to get your courses completed by then before the start of your Capstone, it'll give you more time to work on the Capstone itself instead of worrying about other courses to complete.
