Long absence
#1
Hi everyone.

I just rejoined this site after taking some time away from taking tests. The last tests I took were about a year ago and I had the results sent to Excelsior, even though I'm not yet enrolled there. I was wondering... how long does Excelsior keep my results on file? I remember reading it was about a year ago at one point but I can't recall for certain. And what do I have to do if they aren't currently on file anymore? I was taking the CLEPs... do I just have to have my results send back to Excelsior again? Hopefully, I didn't lose the credit, I don't think that I did, but I'm not certain.

Glad to be back in the test game!

Banta,
Welcome back! The good news is that you will not have lost any credits - I believe they're kept on file for 25 years by CLEP. However, Excelsior will no longer have them as they only keep them for 6 months for people who have not yet registered. So you will have to pay Clep a small fee to send the transcript back to Excelsior and you should be in business. What are you focusing on first?

I had taken about a year break from exams and they still had my transcripts when I ended up enrolling. I did NOT have to pay another $75. However when I attempted to enroll online I was not given the option to enroll online. I spoke with an advisor and they stated since it was over the 6 month time frame I could only enroll by mailing in the paperwork to enroll.

25 years? That's good. I think I can actually get my degree before that... although, my current rate is not really awe-inspiring.

I'm thinking of doing the Social Sciences and Natural Sciences next. I know it's sort of backwards from the way that some do it, but I think it's easier for me to acquire a ton of information and then refine it to the more specific exams.

Thanks for all the replies. This site helped me prepare very well for the first few tests I took (Humanities and College Math) and the discussion forum here is an excellent resource.
