Columbia Southern University DBA
#1
Long time no see everyone. Been a while. Alot has change: moved, got a job in my career, etc etc. One thing that hasn't change is I never got my doctorate. One college in mind is DBA from Columbia southern university since they just become an RA university with the accrediting. I also just became eligible for tuition reimbursement from my employer. With my wgu discount I would be to go for free if I could finish it in 2 years. Anyone here gone through the program? Is it possible? They told me on average it be three years which is too long for me personally. If not anyone has a good recommendation for a cheap and two year DBA?

@maxxor6868, hey, it's been a while. How's work? So, you got a new career going... seems it's rolling along nicely for you! Anyways, my suggestion is to go for a more 'hands-on' or competency-based DBA. A few people have taken a stab at the South College CBE DBA, technically you should be able to finish in two years if you pace yourself. Since you have CBE experience with WGU, that would be my first recommendation and place Columbia Southern as your backup option.

Having said that, you're still young, don't rush things and let it go at 'your pace'... If I guess correctly, you should be 22 this year, finishing a two-year DBA before 25 years of age is amazing already, your main goal is to get the experience from working in the field your career currently is at, even if you want to accelerate and finish faster, what is the ROI/Value in doing so? You've completed many things so quickly already, there really isn't a need to rush this final hurdle, the DBA.

BTW, are you the one who finished your Associates a couple weeks before high school graduation? Then finished a TESU BA Comp Science by 19, lastly, the WGU MBA after 1 term? If that was you, you've got everything going accordingly to your own personal schedule, a 2-year program from South College is going to be extremely quick already. There may be other institutions, I'd recommend doing some research on possible options in addition to South College & CSU. If I didn't say this before in your other posts, Congrats on getting this far! WOW!

Hey bjcheung77! It has been a while since my last post. Yeah, being an engineer has taken a lot of my time. Your right after more digging the Columbia DBA won't be for me (3-5 years that they push for). The south college one though definitely is. You are a little off I be turning 21 this year actually. It would be pretty nice to get my doctoroate around 23 years. Thanks for the encouragement! I did take a little break after WGU because the one term master took a lot out of me. I am refresh and ready to go for the final boss fight though for the DBA. The self pace one from South College does sound very interesting ngl. I am planning on doing it sooner than later just because with the RA accrediting it be acceptable for reimbursement so it will not cost me anything. I am working on getting more work experience and my end goal is managgment as well as finishing that last degree title. I keep everyone posted on how it goes.

That's awesome! If you just want a "doctorate" the quickest would be VUL's Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. I was going to go for an EdD, PhD, or DBA with a focus in Organizational Leadership. I decided to go to VUL instead. VUL was 1) cheaper 2) faster and 3) the classes matched up with my goal more. I can apply what I learned to healthcare administration jobs, or to business administration jobs.
