I'll be taking this exam in about three weeks and I was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to what study material works best and what areas to study the most. I just took and passed American Literature, and my understanding is that the English Lit exam covers a lot more analyzing and interpreting literature. While I've done fairly well on this in the past, I still haven't really been able to get an understanding of things like iambic pentameter and how to identify it, and things similar to that. Any advice would be great!
Thanks

cheersmate Took my English literature CLEP exam today 9/10/15. I got a 54 needed a 50. Only thing I used was InstantCert. I am an older student. I have four degrees and I am back in school re-training for my second career. I didn't have English literature on my transcript and needed it for my current degree. So, I decided to try this CLEP instead of taking the class. And it worked! I am glad I did it. All I used was InstantCert. InstantCert gave me everything I needed. The information on the flashcards was on the test. Yes, some things were different but most of the information was on it. I would have done better if I had a better memory and studied more but I'm glad I did this! Was worth it.
My test consisted of:
Reading passages and choosing the message the writer was trying to convey
Reading passage choosing literary device used
Reading passage choosing the author
Reading passage choosing a word for the selected word in the passage (ie:the word intelligent is used to mean....)
Selecting authors on their works and what they are known for (ie: this author is known for his plays which are epic, romantic..blah blah blah)
All I can say is the flash cards were dead on for my test. I wish I had studied more I would have done better. But I passed and that's all that counts I could not have done it without InstantCert. :willynilly:
