I am currently studying for my first CLEP test, and I was wondering how they compare to DSST tests. Are the testing facilities about the same? Do the credits work about the same? Thanks!

The short answer is basically yes - both exams are virtually the same in many aspects except CLEP exams give you 5 answer choices while DSST give you 4.

CLEP are always pass/fail while some schools offer letter grades for DSST exams. Also all CLEP are lower level while some DSST's are Upper level. Additionally, CLEP are generally 90 min time limits while DSST's are 2 hrs.
As my friend ShotoJuku pointed out, CLEPS offer 5 choices while DSST's offer 4. I have not found this to be a particular advantage as typically one of the answers offered on CLEPS stands out as wrong leaving the test taker with 4 choices.
My understanding (and I may be in error) is that all CLEPS are computer based while some locations for DSST sites may still be paper based or offer both.

I took the CLEP principles of management, and the DSST Principles of supervision, this week... I passed both, and there was a TON of overlap... but personally, I prefered the CLEP...
