I used Mathway.com while doing the assessment. I see nothing wrong with this. Main reason is because in the real world if you don't know something what do you do?? Look it up and learn it. I took my first assessments cold, did alright, then got another assessment and threw is Mathway, got even closer. Then Did Mathway and Checked out how to solve problems went back in and answered. I think most of the ALEKS took my three total assessments over a day or two.

Great advice. Start now and make your goals bite-sized.

I'm doing this now. Working on my own and verifying with mathway. Dropped down to beginner algebra and will work with this for a while. Is it worth paying for mathway? So far I like what I've seen, but am interested as to how their instructions are explained.

No I didn't pay for it, waste of money in my opinion

You must log into your master account and issue your student (your study account) a new assessment there.

I found that, but it says a "progress assessment". I did complete another "progress assessment" but it only tested me on what I'd already been over with my pie chart. Is that the only option?

go to master account, click towards the bottom on "edit student account", once in there go down to "course" and change the course to something else other than what you want to test, then log out. then log in as student but don't do anything except looking at the first question of that assessment. then log out again, and go back to master account and change the course back to the one you actually want to retest in! Then finally start the test as student. There may be an easier way but I never found it! HA! This way worked for me.

You can't advance unless you do the work. If you request more assessments you get more questions on areas you already have credit for and if you fail them you lose credit. I make sure I take 25 - 30 new topics to ensure I get all new questions.
