DSST = Dantes Subject Standardized Tests. They are open to anyone.

A little more info on Dantes (DSST) exams--they are the second most widely accepted college equivalency program (after CLEP). About half of the colleges that accept CLEP will accept Dantes.

You can read more about Dantes at their official website: http://www.getcollegecredit.com

Thanks for the info. The policy my school posted online regarding Dantes is very vague...here's the link if you are curious...http://www.spcollege.edu/webcentral/admi...htm#Credit

I emailed someone at the school to see what they say. Again, thanks for the help!

SPC has some very strict rules when it comes to accepting credit from exam sources. They very often, if not always, only accept some clep exams (well above the ace score of 50) for credit towards electives.

To the best of my knowledge (so please have the school confirm this) they do not accept dantes or if they do it's usually the same policy as with clep.

GOOD LUCK!!

I looked up this link, the school specifies they adhere to "equivalents as authorized by the State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.024." This rule is located here: http://www.firn.edu/doe/rules/6a-102.htm#6A-10.024. Here is an exerpt regarding DSST and ECE exams:
f) Excelsior College Examinations, formerly known as the Regents College Examinations or the Proficiency Examination Program (PEP). Transferof credit under terms of this rule is mandatory provided that the award of credit is consistent with the Articulation Coordinating Committee's recommended minimum scores and maximum amount of credit guaranteed to transfer with no letter grades or grade points assigned.

(g) Defense Activity of Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs). Transfer of credit under terms of this rule is mandatory provided that the award of credit is consistent with the Articulation Coordinating Committee's recommended minimum scores and maximum amount of credit guaranteed to transfer with no letter grades or grade points assigned.
From the use of the word "mandatory" for both exam types, it looks like they do accept credit; for DSSTs, no grade assignment is required, only pass/fail. The minimum score and amount of credit you'll have to find out from the school.

I found out today that SPC DOES accept Dantes tests! I am excited. They emailed me a document that lists all of the CLEP, DANTES, and ECE tests and what you need to score for credit, how much credit you get, and what course it corresponds to. I've discovered a whole new world here on instantcert.com. Thanks!!!
