Hi! Your plan looks good!

Here are some things to consider:

If you did not enroll by July 1, 2010, you will be required to take a capstone course through EC for 3 UL credits. (I think it will count toward your 30 credit UL total, but I will try to check on that.)

American Government counts as political science and does not count toward a history depth. (I wish it did, too!)

You could plan another 3 credits in Math below Calculus to maximize the Math Restriction. That would give you a total of 15 math credits - 9 below Calculus, Stats, and Calculus.

To save some money, consider 3 free NFA credits (applied professional). They would be added for free to your ACE transcript with your ALEKS credits.

Also to save money you could choose DSST Business Ethics & Society UL (arts & sciences) instead of 1 ECE.

The UL credits you are planning for your depths in Math and History will count towards the 21 Arts & Sciences UL credits needed. You can take 2 exams off of that list.

The same is true for LL credits in the depths. You can take 3 exams off of the LL list (or 4 if you add a math).

(Overall, you only need a maximum of 120 credits with 30 UL. You can eliminate anything that adds up to more than that by paying attention to the minimum requirements for Arts & Sciences.)

You’ll need to make sure that none of your choices duplicate credits that you have already earned.

I hope my thoughts are helpful to you! Please ask, if you need any clarification.

Thanks for your help! Good news on the tests I could take off; bad news on the capstone. Does the business major now require two capstone courses or is there one for business and one for everything else? Just curious...

Please let me know if you find out anymore about the capstone counting as UL...

Can you tell me what NAF is or give me a link to where it is answered on the forum? Can't do a search on just "NAF". Thanks!

The new capstone course was added for the liberal arts degrees. I think business and a few other majors already had the requirement. I'm not sure how it is going to work, but it looks like there is a course available for each of the 5 gen ed categories.

I haven't checked on this, but I think DSST Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union would count toward your history depth.

Have you considered the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP? It is a 6 credit reading comprehension exam. (see post below)

The NFA course I took was called Fire Service Supervision Q318. I thought the information was very practical for anybody to use. I put some feedback and a link for more info at the end of this post:

There are two other NFA courses. One is hydraulics Q137. I have been told that it is 2 hours of math problems. The other is community education Q118. ACE says it takes a few hours longer to complete than the one I took, but I have not been able to verify that.

As far as I know, those are the only 3 NFA courses we can use for college credit at EC right now. That would be 1 credit each, so 3 credits total. They are free except for the ACE transcript. The first ACE transcript is $40; any additional transcripts will be $15. Since you will probably do ALEKS, you will need at least one ACE transcript anyway.

I'm glad I could help! I will let you know what I find out about the capstone.

I have good news for you; you can take another UL exam off of your list! The capstone course will count toward the 30 UL credit total needed for a degree in the school of Liberal Arts.

If you were planning to pursue a Major, the UL requirements for a Major have increased from 15 UL to 18 UL because of the new capstone course. All Liberal Arts Majors are 33 credits now (15 LL + 18UL).

I also got some extra details. In the school of Liberal Arts, all of the capstone courses count as Arts & Sciences except Criminal Justice.

A prerequisite to taking the capstone course is completing a depth. (This may be how the specific capstone course will be chosen.)

Since this is a new policy some of the details are still unclear, but it MIGHT be possible to apply the capstone course to an Area of Focus.

I hope this helps you in creating your degree plan!

Ugh... They should have just let the capstone replace electives. Thumbsdown to that.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

TMW2010 - I was surprised by this development, too. I'm glad I asked about it. It makes me wonder about the credits awarded for a GRE with major. That is a question for another time.
