East Texas A&M - Plan
#1
It’s been a while since I posted about undergrad degrees. I have a young lady in my department who’s ready to start her degree journey. She’s a Texas resident with zero credits, and from what I’ve seen, TAMUC’s BAAS in Organizational Leadership looks like a solid option and one she's interested in.

Sophia wasn’t one of the sources I used when I earned my degree, but I found this plan using Sophia for most of the alt credit:

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...egree_Plan

Are there any other updated plans out there? I’d like to give her a couple options. Also, with 3–5 hours a day to study (plus weekends), what’s a ballpark cost estimate if she maxes out Sophia/Alt credits?

Thanks in advance!

Basically, they've added a couple more BAAS options (newer than the one in this link from last year, I believe). Essentially, the general education and electives are identical, the concentration option is the only difference, you're going to have to take the classes at ETAMU anyways.

So, the WIKI plan is what you want to follow for Sophia.org $99/month or the Study.com $95/month alternative credits to get up to 84 transferred in: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid411310

Essentially, I estimate about 3 months of Study.com = $95 x 3. 2 sessions of ETAMU is $1K each. If you need more time, add another session and/or subscription month...

For the 6 upper level credits, I recommend taking the Google Project Management Certificate on Coursera. It will count for 9 credits total of electives. 6 upper level and 3 lower level.

This combined with the degree plan, the person in your department will be able to transfer in 87 credits and will only have to take 11 courses at ETAMU. This will consist of Texas Government and the 10 classes for the major.

That's even better, you get a certificate, experience to add to the degree, and bumps up the transfer to 87 credits instead...

Hey all, I was curious if anyone has completed a degree from ETAMU in one session? I know they have the new stipulation of not being able to accelerate into the final class for the upcoming master's, but is undergrad like that?

I previously did UMPI in one session and I was curious because I don't see much about anyone getting ETAMU done in a session, unless of course I missed that thread, which I apologize if I did.

I just completed my BAAS in Organizational Leadership, graduated in May. They don't have the stipulation of not accelerating into the Capstone for the BAAS programs. One person in a group I am in has claimed to have completed 13 classes in one term and graduated. However that is not the normal. If the claim is true, I think it would have to be someone who has no outside commitments and can only focus on school, on top of this they would have to have instructors that grade quickly.

If transferring in the max of 87 or 90(if transferring in Texas Government) credits, completing in 2 terms is what most accomplish.

ETAMU is has 7 week terms, however the last date to accelerate in a term is the 5th Friday of each term. You start with 2 classes in week one and once both of those classes have been completed, you can only accelerate one class at a time. So you can't really be working on something while you're waiting for grading. This makes it a real challenge to complete in one term.

With that said, it is a great school and if a Texas resident, should be a top option unless you need a specific degree.

I see. I appreciate your response and insight. A little odd they won't let two courses be open at once beyond the initial start. Regardless, thank you!

Hypothetically speaking, if she could knock out those first two courses quickly, how many could you realistically finish by the end of first term? I'm telling her to plan for 3 terms just in case but noticed you said most finish in two.

I wish this had been available when I was earning my degree. Regionally, it has strong recognition in North Texas. I am a teacher and luckily was able to get on during COVID so it doesn't matter anymore, but for Texas residents looking I agree this is likely the strongest option.

There are so many variables. I don’t know how many hours she can commit to studying and how quickly she learns.

As long as she maxes out the transfer requirements I don’t see any reason why two terms wouldn’t be easily accomplished.

I completed 7 classes in my first term. And knocked out the last 4 in my second term.

Each course took me on average about 20 hours to complete.
