From Business to Arts - the degree quandary
#1
My son is to the blessed half way point of an associates degree. He was headed down the business degree path but as time goes on he is more and more anxious to get into the job market with a degree, almost any degree. We've been discussing an associates in Arts from TESC. Here is what he has so far:

Bold = passed

I. General Education

English Composition
CLEP English Comp w/ Essay

B. Humanities (must include two subject areas)
CLEP Humanities - (6)
DSST Technical Writing or DSST Ethics in America
DSST Art of the Western World - (3)

C. Social Sciences (must include two subject areas)
CLEP US History 1 - (3)
CLEP American Government - (3)

DSST Civil War and Reconstruction – (3)
CLEP Sociology - (3)

D. Natural Sciences
One college-level mathematics course (required)
CLEP College Mathematics (3)
One computer science course (strongly recommended)
CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications - (3)
Other natural sciences/mathematics
DSST Astronomy (3)

E. General Education Electives
CLEP Social Sciences and History
CLEP College Mathematics (3)

II. Free Electives
DSST Introduction to Computing – (3)
CLEP Principles of Management – (3)
DSST Intro to Business – (3)
DSST Principles of Supervision – (3)

FEMA - Professional Development (9)

As you can see his free electives are full of business courses but I feel this is the time to decide whether to go on with the business plan or go for an AA so he can more easily transfer his credits to a bachelor's degree.

Passed:

American Gov, US History 1, US History 2, Computing, Info Systems, Humanities, Sociology, Art, Western Civ I, Western Civ II, Social Sciences and History, Civil War, Business, Vietnam, A&I Lit, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, American Lit, English Lit, Astronomy, Supervision, 1 FEMA, Total -79
