I'm only a few classes away and want to get this done as quickly as possible. I need 6 CIS elective credits and 1 (yes 1) General Ed Elective credit. I would like to test out of these credits or take some quick classes (ie Penn Foster/Straighterline). My degree plan is attached.
I don't know if I am reading your plan right, so forgive me if I'm off here....I would do ALEKS Beginning Algebra to knock off the extra GenEd credit needed for $20
Then I would take the DSST Intro to Business and DSST Supervision for $170 which would then be placed in your Business Electives.
Definitely take the DSST MIS which fits into the CIS concentration...and you can take Cobol or Visual Basic from PF for the programming component.

I concur with the DSST MIS exam, it's very doable with the resources provided on this site. I'd probably take another PF programming course to fulfill the other CIS elective.
On a side note did you already have A+ and Net+ evaluated by TESC? They announced their acceptance while I was a student and then had no concept of how to evaluate them, as at that time they wanted transcripts sent in and CompTIA would only publish the results online through a secure link sent from their website. Never could get an answer so I just said screw it and took another programming course through a local CC.
I m edumakated thanx to distunce lerning.

Thanks to the both of you...I took the ALEKS class that was recommended and actually got a 75% on the initial assessment so that was an easy 1 credit.
I definitely plan on taking the DSST MIS now...my only concern was that it would duplicate something that I already have. The Visual Basic class from Penn Foster was an excellent suggestion and I will follow up on that.
They did evaluate and accept both my A+ and Network+ certs but only gave me 2 credits in "Business Electives" for each (labeled CAP-171 Windows and CAP-181 Networks). All that I had to do was print out the transcripts from the Comptia website, have them notorized, and send them in.

The CLEP and DSST Intro to Computers duplicate and transcribe as COS 101....the DSST MIS is considered upper level and is transcribed by TESC as CIS 301 (which is a course you want on your BSBA CIS transcript)

I just got off the phone with my advisor at TESC and she told me that I cannot take the DSST MIS exam because it would transcribe as a duplicate class. Also, I cannot take any other programming classes for my electives since I already have Intro to Programming and COBOL II.

Bear with me, I don't have your plan in front of me....but weren't your A+, Net+ thrown in under business electives? When I say thrown in, I mean that a computer program put them there originally, because nothing else fit at the time. This is where you come in....If you say to your advisor "I would like to take 6 of the current CIS electives that have been placed in the business elective category and move them to the general CIS electives....and I will go and take DSST Intro to Bus and DSST Supervision, which can then be placed in the business elective portion of the degree plan"
They aren't going to take the time to suggest that option, but you are in control of your program. You can probably go in and take both of those exams cold, your 6 credits are earned and you are done....but you have to tell them the plan that will work....otherwise they will just sit there and continually repeat no,no,no to all of your requests.

TESC COS-330-GS: Computer Architecture, guided study option, 10 assignements (answering questions in the book, no asseys) , 1 proctored paper exam, 1 online exam, you can go at your own pace, I did it in a month and half. (just request the exam when ever you are ready, no need to wait)
ICCP SQL Adminisration, much cheaper, $285 for one exam, however all there is is a textbook to read to prepare for the final exam.
ICCP exam Internetworking & Data Communications, same price, I found that one much easier, I did without studying, however I have been doing IT and networking for over 15 years.
