I have been working on my degree(s) for the last year. The best advice I can give you is to start working on general education requirements through testing or Straighterline. If you spend too much time worry about the details it will distract from accomplishing credits. Many of the general education requirements are common across the big three so there is little risk. Save the degree specific stuff for later. Once you have your first 30 credits or so, you can revisit the where and what degree question. It will give you time to get familiar with the community here and hear from those dealing with the different colleges. You may find that your plans change over time. Mine have changed so many times I gave up counting.

"like he said" the general education stuff works well up to at least 30 credits at hundreds of different schools. I'm currently bogged down "at school" instead of getting gen ed credits which I should have accomplished before now. So take SL or CLEP and work like crazy. If you are on a base in Germany you should have access to an education center which will allow you to take CLep for free, with a military ID if your a civilian contractor that might be different.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :

Thanks all. I am certainly guilty of paralysis by analysis.
On a good note I think I stumbled upon a school for my son. It just happened to be a partner of SL and offers a strenght and conditioning bachelors degree both online and in person. So all the research isn't for naught.
Question though. If you don't know which university you are partnering with What does SL do with the credits? Do they hold them or do they go into an ACE transcript?

If I were not in a degree plan, I would have them transcribed to an ACE transcript just like I do with Aleks. Straighterline has a form for this I believe.

FWIW, even though I was enrolled at a partner school I still had my SL courses put on my ACE transcript, just in case.
