I'm confused, but what's new
#1
Okay, I'm trying to figure out EC's chart on pg. 25 of their catalog (for a BA degree). Under Arts and Sciences, there is listed the Written English Requirement of 3 credits and the Gen Ed Requirements of 33 credits minimum. Under that is a gray box titled Additional Arts and Sciences Electives (54 credits). To the right of all this is the Liberal Studies Option or the Major Option, 24 and 42 credits respectively. Under all that is a black box showing 90 as the total.

So, does the Liberal Studies Option with 2 Depth Requirements (or the Major Option also with 2 Depth Requirements) go into the Additional Arts and Sciences Electives?? I don't get it. You have electives and requirements that look like they have to go together to be able for it all to equal 90 credits.

I'm sure I'm just missing something here, but this chart is making me nuts. My engineering husband couldn't figure it out either so I don't feel too bad. Rolleyes

your degree is 120 credits and 30 have to be upper level

90 have to be Arts & Science (a&s)
1- info lit ( this is an applied professional (AP) )

the remaining 29 can be a&s or AP (or a combination of the two)

of the 90 A&S credits it is broken down as:

3-> WER
33-> Gen ED -broken down 9/12/12 see the combination's in the catalog
54-> Additional A&S

in completing the 120 credits you have to pick either the liberal studies option or the major option

Does that help clear it up ?

Also if you have lots of AP credits the BS would be a better option as it allows for up to 60 AP credits.
With 21 upper level in a&s and 9 additional upper level in AP or a&s.

Yes, that's kinda what I thought it was (and my husband agreed), but I have been looking at this for so long (and COSC AND TESC), that my brain is getting numb by it all.

So, just to confirm, the Liberal Studies or the Major Option is in the additional 54 credits (some upper).

Thanks!

I think it is within the 120 credits.

Some of the gen ed's could be used also be part of the major or depth option.

For example, I am getting a BS in Liberal studies and my statistics course is part of my gen ed's and part of my depth in psychology. The 3 credits is only counted once towards my 120 credits but it is counted under my gen ed's and as part of one of my depths.
