FHSU credit laundering = bye bye?

College Transfer Credits Process - StraighterLine

Doesn't say they won't be giving letter grades out anymore, but you may want to get them all in before the deadline just in case.

Drat, looks as though the friendly neighborhood laundromat is closing. The one-week martinizing service was most likely fashioned to attract new customers; when that didn't happen they decided to wrap it up. :roflol:

Actually, that is exactly what the FHSU told me by email. The partnered up with SL to attract future students to their school. I had asked them if they had looked at doing the same thing with ALEKS credit and they said they'll only take them thru ACE.

I'm confused, what is being laundered? If I transfer in my "D" and "C" grades to FHSU, they will issue "A" grades?

Laundering refers to the process of transferring courses from SL to FHSU. Once complete it appears as if the courses were taken at FHSU. The originating credit source (SL) disappears or is Laundered but your grades remain the same.

IMHO, transfers through FHSU only benefit the student with A & B grades because it helped your overall GPA. I would use ACE to transfer a C grade and have the grade come in as CR (like a clep exam). BTW, I thought a C/70% was required to obtain credit for a SL course and if you got a D you would have to retake the course. Has this changed?

Hmmm... I don't see any tests with SL that will away UL credit. I suppose I shouldn't keep beating around the bush as I only need six UL's to graduate from EC. This is still great for those just starting out OR those that need LL business classes (macro-micro, accounting, etc.)

What we're all the courses that FHSU gave a letter grade to SL. I know College Algebra is one of them?

Thanks!
