Financial Accounting help - CLEP or Dantes?
#11
collegebound2 Wrote:Hello,

Thank you for all your helpful replies and for the links for the quizzes starlinghunter! I ordered the official test preparation guide for dsst and took a practice test today and got 64% right. That is about 14% better than what I had been getting on my CLEP practice tests. So now I'm thinking I'm going to take the dantes, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if the financial accounting dantes has been updated or not, because the book I ordered is 12 years old. I know that other dantes tests have been updated, but I have not seen this one on the updated list. As far as I know, there are no other updated practice questions anywhere else that will tell me if the test I took in the book is accurate to the real deal. I am still new to taking dantes, so I am not as up-to-date with them as I am on CLEPs.

Again, thanks in advance!

You can try the 10 questions on the DSST study guide (http://getcollegecredit.com/assets/pdf/d...unting.pdf), other than that I wouldn't expect that much has changed, the basics of accounting are pretty standard (I took Acct I and Acct II from my community college).
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Glad to here your scores are better, and that you found the links helpful, collegebound2! I hope you do even better on the actual test. Smile

I did mostly CLEPs in the beginning as well, and didn't like my first Dantes exams as much, but now, after doing so many, I like them better than CLEP. They are a little less stressful on time, as you have 2 hrs. as opposed to 1 1/2, for ^100 questions, and, of course, have 4 options instead of 5.
I would agree with cooperalex2004, accounting is pretty standard, you shouldn't have to worry about your 12-yr. old book! Smile
