Hey - I took the sociology CLEP a couple weeks ago. It was my first test, too. I was getting 80-85% on the peterson tests. I also did the tests on free-clep-prep.com. I can PM you some stuff I found helpful if you want. Someone very kindly sent me a practice exam and I would be happy to pass it on.
Have you taken statistics or psychology or any other research-intensive courses? There were a surprising number of questions on types of research, which kind of study or method would you use to eliminate bias or influence in x type of experiment, etc., and those were the hardest for me. I am taking a psychology class right now and if I had done the reading on research methods earlier that week I am sure I would have been all set, which was a bummer. But I got a 62, so it's all good.
