What is the latest you've ever returned an overdue library book?
Haha, I don't remember, maybe a couple weeks or so, at most a month? I dunno... It's happened to me a few times... How much did you pay for your "fine"?
My family, we go to the library on a regular basis and get reminders when our library books are due, but still sometimes they're "late" and we're fined.
But for this particular person, they made the news in Canada and the UK! Wow! "For one B.C. man, it took 48 years and 107 days."
"He said the fine for the overdue book would be around £6,000 (roughly $9,440 at the time of publication) if the library didn't cap fees at £8.50 (roughly $13). But Arnsby said they are waiving the fine for this case."

I always slap a sticky note to the cover of my book with the return date(usually a day early) and update it if/when I renew. Also put in a reminder to my Google calendar a day or 2 before I have to return/renew. Haven't had a late fee yet.

Good tips! I'll try that, usually I have a calendar for activities I need to do, but haven't thought of entering the library book into my calendar...

My library always capped it at the cost of the book. So if you were REALLY late, they'd just buy a replacement, and fine you that amount (assuming it was something reasonable like $5 or $10).

The main thing I've used my locl library for is inter-library loan. Late fees are steep which is a pretty good incentive for me to get them back on time. Though I haven't always been so diligent

I'm really awful with returning library books. Worst I had was 3 books from the science library of university of Wyoming i checked out in February 2006 and didn't return until August 2016 ? when that library no longer existed and had been absorbed into the main campus library. I've probably paid over $1000 in library fines since turning 18. It's an acceptable consequence (for me) of not taking medication for my ND shortcomings.
