Free Courses for DOD
#1
I stumbled upon some places where DOD Active, reservists, civilians, and some vets can do some free courses.

Center for Development in Security Excellence (CDSE)                                 https://www.cdse.edu/
FSO Orientation for Non Possessing Facilities                                                      ISO 020.CU         3LL
FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities                                         ISO 030.CU           3LL
Basic Industrial Security for the Govt Security Specialist                                  ISO 050.CU           3LL
Counterintelligence Awareness Cert                                                                       CI 201.CU           4UL
Antiterrorism Officer (ATO) Level II                                                                         GS 109.16           3LL

Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DCITA)                             http://www.dcita.edu/
Various classes available for enrollment                (Online)

The CDSE focuses on Intel and Physical Security (antiterrorism, homeland security, or criminal justice) while DCITA is about Cyber security. Could help out those folks looking to do some specializations.

Bonus: ATO Level II was 3 UL credits prior to 08/01/2017. Some of you may already have it in your records!

Good Luck!

You transfer the courses to your ACE transcript.

The courses I listed above you can do anytime, are online only, and don't require funding. They've got some guided online courses but that requires approval and you have to follow the course schedule.

There is none. The online courses have their own internal quizzes and exams. The guided courses I have not taken and cannot speak to.

Man, I wish I knew about these sooner, while I was Active Duty. As a veteran, it's hard to access these without a CAC reader.
Georgia Institute of Technology: MS in Analytics (3/32 Credits)
Boston University: MS in Software Development
Thomas Edison State University: BA in Liberal Studies

I have a degree plan for the BSBA in General Management from TESU using CLEP/DSST for the majority of the degree.  There are a few courses that can't be taken that way, but between CLEP, DSST, The Institutes, a Sophia course, you are set.

Add to that paying out of pocket for 8 TECEP exams ($117 each, so a total of $936), and as an active-duty member of the military, you could  skip the residency waiver.

You could actually get the degree for $2000!!!

I can't help you with the Software Engineering degree, as TESU doesn't have one - but I can tell you that it's easier to get that 2nd bachelor's degree after you've finished the first one.  Many schools will waive the Gen Ed's, or only make you take a certain number of credits in your major as a 2nd degree.
