BOG Students
#1
Hi everyone,

I went through this program to get my Associate Degree and just thought I would share because the State or West Virginia is currently reviewing the program.  It personally has helped me and I thought others might want to share their successes as well so that other students in the future can have this opportunity.

Are you a Board of Governors graduate from Pierpont Community & Technical College in WV?  If so, please weigh in on how earning your Associate's degree has had a positive impact on your professional life.  Has earning a degree gotten you a promotion? a salary increase? admissions to another degree program?

Please take a minute to share that information with the program coordinator at Nancy.Parks@pierpont.edu.  The BOG degree program is undergoing a review by the institution and the State of West Virginia, and "success stories" from students would be appreciated.

Damn, would love to share but I'm still in the process of applying for it, so far I sent in a copy of my transcripts and hopefully everything works out.

I am a August, 2017 graduate of Pierpont's B.O.G. program.  I am so thankful for it.

I have written several letters to Ms. Parks, indicating how much I appreciated the program, however, I may just do it again in case it helps them with this evaluation of the program.

Hello All,

Just received this from Nancy Parks since there seems to have been an increase in inquiries in the program since my last post.  From our conversation (via email) the goal isn't to deter any new potential students from reaching out to her but rather just to make everyone aware that she's a one person team trying to help students navigate through the program.

------------------------

Due to the overwhelming interest in the Board of Governors AAS degree from students all over the country, I ask that you keep these things in mind as you apply for this degree that honors all credits completed at other colleges and--at this time--requires no institutional residency:
  • Pierpont is a small college with a limited number of staff.  There is one BOG program coordinator and one Registrar.
  • Our first obligations are to serving our currently enrolled students, our prospective students, and our graduates.
  • We graduate students three times a year:  August, December, and May.  It is unlikely that applying for graduation at midterm will allow enough time for graduation that same semester.
  • Please submit final, official transcripts well ahead of your anticipated graduation.  Some of you have over a dozen transcripts and need every credit to graduate.
  • Email is the preferred method of communication because I can answer it from anywhere, and everything is date stamped.  Email also gives me the ability to include other staff in on communications when necessary.
I am happy and honored to work with each and every student I've met through these forums.  Thanks for allowing me to share this information so the process can be a smoother one for all of us.
