Help with Excelsior eval
#1
Hello all,

I received an evaluation from Excelsior and am not sure about reading it. It seems I need 34 credits for graduation, but am confused since most of them are upper level (30 out of the 34 required, the rest are ethics, English writing, and math).

I also have an evaluation from TESU and was able to use a spreadsheet from here to map out courses (with Study.com) but certain classes never posted to my eval for either school (ethics or the math classes).

Can anyone help make sense of these? I would like to finish as soon as possible and would like suggestions on anything I can test and send in before taking actual classes since they are the slowest. What are the best UL classes to transfer in?

It seems both schools require about 32-34 credits.
I'm using the GI Bill so I don't mind taking actual courses if some are too hard to test out or transfer in.

I pasted everything I could with the evals, and plan on writing a post on what it took to finish (when I do!) for people like me who were confused and were helped here!
I know it's a lot but it's very appreciated!

Thank you for any suggestions.

TL;DR
I need UL for classes to transfer into Excelsior's BSLS degree.

I am adding my TESU evaluation documents. Sorry if this isn't the normal way of posting them.

Excelsior evaluations are a little confusing because they allow you alot of options for completing a degree but dont explain alot on how those options would work without alot of back and forth from your advisor. While your evaluation may say "Only 34 credits left" thats a little misleading. Credits can be applied in multiple areas to cover different requirements. In order to make real sense of your evaluation we will need to see your entire evaluation (inlcuding the classes that have been applied/transfered in). If you could print to PDF and upload it that would make it much easier to see whats what.

Thank you for replying. I know it's a lot but I appreciate the help. Here is my eval downloaded as PDF. It looks like they didn't receive my ACE transcript which has ALEKS College Algebra, ALEKS Intermediate Algebra and my Ethics course from the Institutes which I would hope takes care of the Math and Ethics requirement.

I think you need to call an advisor in the School of Liberal Arts at Excelsior (mine was the School of Public Service).   This EC eval is as clear as mud. Sad   You can tell them a current alumni said so.

12 UL (Depth 1 &2)
18 LL (Depth 1 &2)
2 Math generally LL
2 Engl generally LL
2 Ethics generally LL

3 UL Capstone* ask if this can count as part of the 12 UL (Depth 1 &2).  Mine did to another degree.

I would specifically ask about adding one of the depths in history. You're almost there. You'll just need to take 2 of the UL histories from DSST (Vietnam, civil war, or Russian). You will also need to take a written comp 2 course. Either study.com or SL.

Life Long Learning is right though. You're advisor should have guided you towards some more valid courses. The institute ethics should count. Let us know when they apply your ACE transcript.

You are right on with history Wink as Excelsior College does accept all of the DSSTs in history in both UL and LL with options.
