Saylor- Excelsior acceptence
#1
Hi, When I contacted EC about Saylor courses, First I was told that the courses will not be accepted at EC. I wrote an email to saylor organization and they talked to Excelsior Assistant Dean and confirmed me that EC will accept these courses. Now I am checking with academic adviser what are the EC course equivalency of these courses. I will update the forum once I hear back from EC.

Please see the below email from EC.

I am writing to let you know that Excelsior College will accept the three
Saylor courses listed below, which are recommend for credit by NCCRS, when
submitted on an official NCCRS transcript:
BUS 205: Business Law and Ethics
BUS 201: Corporate Communications
Pol SCI 201: Introduction to Western Thought

Please accept my regrets for the misunderstanding.

Sincerely,
Eileen Young

Hmm you might want to inform that the transcript will be from Saylor and not an official NCCRS transcript as NCCRS does not issue transcripts. It should save time on surprising them

Thanks for noticing that.
The saylor courses are listed on NCCRS web site. So why would you think the courses cannot be submitted on NCCRS transcript?

Hi, I checked with NCCRS. It looks like I can NCCRS transcript for Saylor courses. Please see the email below.

Email I sent to NCCRS:

Hi, I am planning to take the below course from Saylor foundation. My college will accept these courses when submitted on an official NCCRS transcript. May I know if NCCRS will issue transcripts for the below saylor courses?

thanks

Reply from NCCRS:

Hello ,

Thanks for writing to NCCRS and congratulations on your decision to enroll in a course offered by Saylor Foundation.
Upon successful completion of the course, Saylor Foundation will issue an official transcript to document your learning experiences so you can apply for transfer credit with your home institution.
I'm glad that your college is willing to accept NCCRS credit recommendations.

Best of luck to you!

They just told you that Saylor will issue a transcript, not NCCRS. NCCRS says on its website that it does not issue transcripts.

Oh I see! Thanks for the clarification. Has anyone successfully transferred saylor course to EC? Saylor is confidently saying that I can transfer the credits without any problem.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I have an update from EC. It looks like EC will accept Saylor transcript directly from Saylor with some modification on the transcript content.

Below is the email EC dean sent to Saylor:
Dear Devon,

I have consulted with the Director of Record and Registration. There must
be some changes made to this form for Excelsior's purposes.

In addition to the student's name and address, we need either the last
four digits of the student's social security number, or the month and date
of birth (two forms of identification are required.)

This must be received, with your signature, on Saylor letterhead and in a
Saylor envelope.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Eileen Young

and Saylor has confirmed that they are okay with it. Please see the below confirmation from Saylor.

Hello Eileen,

Thats not a problem. I've added to the transcript request form a field for students to supply this information, which will then be included on the transcripts themselves.

Thanks for you help.
