Horrible Diploma Design
#11
What's hilarious about this is that Full Sail has graphic design degrees. You'd think someone from that department would have been involved in the diploma design.

Well I must say I rather like the design. The Logo and seal seems to be embossed/raised which gives it a bit of a quality. Better than just the printed crap some other online-colleges offer.
I do understand that in the US these degree-certificates are more of a comemmorative character. Here in Europe these certificates are often more declarative, which is why they have more information to formally identify the holder of the degree, like DOB and Place of birth.
Also it would be considered forgery if you produced such a certificate without beeing a state-recognised UAS or full university in Germany.

But they can also look horrbile (have a look, I blanked out some of my Information, hope you understand) - would never put my German diplomas on a wall, since I need them way to often. E.g. I had to show the originals when I was applying for my new job.

So what do you think of this desgin? ;-)

The University of Leicester is a century-old British university. (A university college until its Royal Charter in 1957.)

My diploma from Union is as ornate as it gets. It's huge and gothic with all the typical flowery language one finds on such things. It measures 11x14" in Landscape.

My diploma from Leicester looks like it was typed up on a Selectric. It's small--A4, which is nearly "letter." (Narrower but slightly longer.) It is in Portrait format.

You just never know.

When I was issued a diploma by National University, it was back when David Chigos, the founder, was still president. It was in Portrait format, used block lettering, and looked like an award that would hang in an executive's office. It was printed on cloth with a hard backing and was in a padded folder.

About 20 years laterI thought I'd lost it in one of my many moves, so I requested a replacement. What I got was a "normal" diploma in Letter format with scripted lettering. Thankfully, I found the first one.

You just never know.

Oh I'd love to see a picture of that cloth-printed Diploma!

I see what you mean about not being frameworthy.

I like the seal and the fun blue pattern.

That's about it.

In another thread you asked for inspiration for "degree-walls". Should we start a "Show-your-diploma"-Thread so we can see different Diplomas from different countries and schools?
Would that be something we have fun with?

Ok today I got my Masters-Diploma from Fernunuiversität Hagen - Germany's only state-owned distanceuniversity. And the diploma IS so ugly - what do you think?
I also uploaded an AI-translation so you can see the more declarative charactere of a European Diploma compared to a more comemorative US-Diploma.

So, what do you think of this Diploma? They printed the states coat-of-arms pf Northrhine-Westphalia in the background, the state where the school is located, but it really doesn't look fancy or ceremonial. It just contains al the infos needed to make sure I gaduated.
