I go to Concordia University in St. Paul and they offer slightly different credit value for CLEPs than some other colleges. In order to get a bachelor's degree from Concordia U, I have to earn a total of 128 credits. All but 45 of those 128 credits can be transferred in or completed with credit-by-examination. It is a pretty good deal for me since all of their one semester courses are worth 4 credits, while the two semester courses are worth 8 credits. As a result, my CLEPs transfer in with the same values based on which course they consider my exam to be the equivalent to. Here is a breakdown of my progress thus far:
English Composition with Essay . . . . . 4 credits
Analyzing and Interpreting Literature . . . . . 4 credits
History of the United States 2 . . . . . 4 credits
Principles of Management . . . . . 4 credits
Introductory Sociology . . . . . 4 credits
Human Growth and Development . . . . . 4 credits
In addition to this, I have earned 16 credits through traditional classes.
All in all, I have earned 40 of my 128 credits between January, 2008 and today. Thank God for CLEP! I seriously doubt that I would have had the motivation to earn my degree if I had not discovered that I could accomplish it in less time using credit-by-exam.

Hi!
I'm new to this forum and noticed that you took and passed the chemistry CLEP. What did you use to study for it and how long did you study?
Thanks very much!
Best,
Wendy

I think that's 42 exams, and I only failed the two Uexcel exams. I knew I wasn't prepared well enough for them, but I wanted to take them before the beta testing period ended. It adds up to about 170 some credits, but I have duplicated some credits in there, too, which makes it less than that, more like 145? It depends on the school awarding credit for the GREs. COSC doesn't have my GRE Literature scores yet, so I don't know for sure how many credits I have duplicated there.
I'm probably going to take at least two more. Maybe more than that just because I like it. I am an addict.
Has anyone here ever taken them all? I'd like to try it, but I'm too scared to tackle calculus ever again.

You're too funny! I'd say Go For It! I know you can do it!
(Don't torture yourself on math, if you don't like it or need it. If you do decide to try calculus again, at least take precalculus first. You already did great on the business math - that's plenty.)
