He has some good info and some is just wrong. You don't test out of transfer credit like he says.

Yeah, I kind of wonder what kind of information he's been giving his "private clients".

His college 101 course is here
https://shanehummus.teachable.com/p/college101

Looks outdated or at least not optimized to what we discuss here on DF. It is targeted at the general college student.

I'm not sure where he offers consulting services. I could figure it out with some ninja searches; I'm sure, of course, the knowledge wouldn't be anything new to what we have here on DF, but some people do need their handheld and want to save some time to get their degree ASAP.

I have previously clicked on Shane Hummus videos and am already subscribed to Josh Madakor. They both are very intelligent and not some BSers that some Youtubers are.

$397? HA! That info is free on here! Also I have a heard time taking college advice from someone who has poor writing skills such as capitalizing university, but then not capitalizing the name YouTube. Telling people you can test out of transfer credit leaves me to wonder many things. You do not test out of transfer credit so I am left wondering how much of his spiel is BS. Did he actually earn a degree this way? Or is he just monetizing something we give away for free on here? Much of this info is available for free all over the internet.

ETA: I've have watched a few more of his videos. He keeps saying you only need to score a 50 on a CLEP exam for credit. This isn't entirely true either. You need a 50 out of 80. He leaves off that 80 part. Some exams like the languages will require a higher score to earn credit for higher levels. While a 50 is the ACE recommendation, a school can say they want a higher score to give credit.

https://clep.collegeboard.org/clep/pdf/w...-means.pdf

Lots of schools also don't accept CLEP or are extremely selective about which exams they will accept. They can want the B level scores which are above 50 and vary.

CLEP scores are from 20-80.  50, for example, doesn't convert to a 62.5% graded score. It's a scaled score, not a percentage.

Some students reported getting 1/2 of the questions wrong on a CLEP exam and still passing. CLEPS are MUCH easier than Saylor exams, and CLEPS are free with ModernStates. Having said that, CLEPs are no longer the most efficient way to earn college credits as there are now quicker alternatives.

Yeah I know the scores range from 20-80. He keep saying you need to score a 50 which isn't completely true.

I agree he left out a bunch of stuff about CLEPs.

Hmm, this reminds me so much of the Jay Cross person and others that use the forums (this and the sister board), then bundle the "basic" info into a course and sell it... Jay Cross was selling plans for more than this person, I think he was charging $500 or something and wasn't even providing "extra support". Makes me wonder how people get to their final destination of actually getting the degree when the info is "outdated".
