I just returned from taking the HG&D CLEP exam --- with a passing score. (55/50)

I will say that while the exam was not as difficult as all of the practice materials I used to prepare for the exam, you still must know a great deal of information. Some of the reasons that make this exam difficult is the use of medical, psychological, and theorist terms and concepts that are very precise and virtually eliminate common sense answer choices. Either you knowthe material -- or you don't. In many cases there appear to be 2 answers that are 100% correct depending on how you intrepret what the question is asking. Plus, I would say that less than 50% of the time that one could eliminate 1 of the 5 choices for obvious reasons.

The woman at the exam center said that she didn't get very many students take this exam. I suppose I can see the reason why. Not a fun test to study for or take.

Regardless, I have just earned my final three credits for degree completion. cheersmate

The test isn't difficult. I studied for about 4 hours and passed easily. I skimmed through the chapter summaries of an HG&D textbook from the library (I really wish I hadn't crunched my exam schedule so tightly, I wanted to read that book so bad!), memorized the names of a few theorists and perspectives, then memorized the glossary.

All in all, its just a simple multiple choice test where the most important thing is to carefully read each question. This test was very different from every other CLEP I have taken. Most of the questions were very long to read, containing scenarios that were full paragraphs. By the end of the exam, I didn't have time to do my normal review routine, and in fact, I really didn't even feel like looking at the screen anymore, so I only did a quick look over my marked answers before time ran out and my fate was sealed.

Yes, this test is sort of easy. You'll definitely need to take your time and read through every question. I just took practice tests before the actual exam and passed without having to actually read any text or "study".
