OK, I'm taking this a week from tomorrow. I just got a 51 on the REA test with next-to-no study. I'm studying famous paintings, I reserved the Annotated Mona Lisa book from the library, & I'm reading everything I can find from Wiki on composers/opera/jazz, etc. I'm also brushing up on my lit knowledge, which is pretty strong.
How close is the REA test to the real thing?

Keep working at it. If you're at 51 now, you should be able to raise that by 10 points in a week, with some intense studying. Think broad and don't give up -- you'll be fine!
Hope it goes great,
R.

Thanks, Ruddigore! From all the scary stories I saw on here & degreeinfo, I was expecting the practice test to be a lot harder than it was. But I've always been an art & lit freak, so I guess that is going to pay off.
Does anyone have a rough estimate of how the time periods are split up, emphasis-wise?? There was a lot more on ancient art but relatively modern lit in the first practice test, is that fairly accurate? I've seen percentage estimates on style & subject matter of questions, but not time period...
Thanks :]

I felt my version of the exam was spread out pretty evenly. I focused my Art study on Ancient Greece and Rome at the beginning and that gave me a good foundation for everything else. I came to the exam with a strength in music and theatre so I spent more time on art and lit.
Are you a member of IC? The feedback from the forum helped me to know which of the lesser known artists to focus on.
I took Ruddigore's advice and took lots of practice tests and studied anything I missed or guessed.
Passed:
American Gov, US History 1, US History 2, Computing, Info Systems, Humanities, Sociology, Art, Western Civ I, Western Civ II, Social Sciences and History, Civil War, Business, Vietnam, A&I Lit, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, American Lit, English Lit, Astronomy, Supervision, 1 FEMA, Total -79

OK, thanks!
No, I'm not an IC member... Truly can't afford it at the moment :[
Yeah, I'm about to take a Peterson's test, hoping it goes well... :ack:

Don't let yourself get discouraged by the Petersons tests... Especially Test #2... For some reason, it seems like on all the practice tests I've taken through them, they seem to jack up the difficulty on the second test.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Thanks... I got a 42 There was a lot more modern stuff than I was expecting, and a ton more biographical stuff, which I've heard there isn't actually much in the real test??
But I'm definitely kicking my studying up a notch... A big one :leaving:

Not to be mean...I think $20 per month is a small price to pay to help you with your study. Especially if it saves you having to repeat and pay to do the clep/dsst again 6 months down the line.
Set yourself goals, not limitations

It definitely is very reasonable. I have no complaint against their prices. But I'm a 16 y.o. without a steady job. $20 is a lot for me
And I'm not going to have to repeat a test because of the lack of IC. I haven't used it on any before & haven't failed one yet. It just requires a lot more effort & "legwork" on the internet.
