I Just Got My CLEP Exam For Free!
#1
I just finished the modernstates.org free CLEP Psychology course and emailed whitney@modernstates.org and she just emailed me a voucher than pays for your CLEP exam, no strings attached! I posted about Modern States on Degreeforum here: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...tates.html.

This is pretty incredible: free credits (except any additional materials like Instantcert)! And CLEP recommends them as a study resource, too.

How is this legit?
This was created by a philanthropist, Steve Klinsky. The courses will probably always be free, but the free exam vouchers are for a limited time.

Here's the email she sent: Your CLEP voucher code is: (I'm leaving that out)

When you are ready to purchase the test, go to the College Board's website to sign-up for an account on My Account or sign in to an already existing account. My Account can be accessed here: https://account.collegeboard.org/login/l...teId%3Drdr

The Voucher Code should be entered in the area with the following prompt, "Are you eligible for an initiative? Enter Voucher." (see below for a screen shot)

Once you identify a test center to take the exam, you will have to call and schedule your exam day/time. When scheduling you can pay for the test fee over the phone. You will need to send me one of two things from this transaction:
1. Test center registration confirmation
2. A receipt for the test center fee

Once we have confirmation that the test center fee has been paid, we will cut a check and mail it to you.

Once you complete the exam, we would appreciate your feedback. Are you interested in taking an online survey?

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.

Stay focused on your coursework. Your efforts will pay off!
(END OF EMAIL)

You should really check them out!

I'm definitely interested in this.

How long did it take you to do the psychology course? What was the material like?

If the vouchers are for a limited time, I wonder if there is a way to get "locked in" before investing time into the course?

The course was 3-4 hours but I did 2x since the professor was super slow. The material was basically just 13 modules (the whole course was broken down into the official CLEP topic outline) with a couple short videos in each module and a few practice problems at the end of each module. It does come with a textbook, but you don't have to read it to get a voucher.
Not many people use Modern States, and I think they said they'll do this for the first few hundred people who sign up/complete the course.

And also there is a 3 page thread on it here: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...tes-3.html

Hope this helps!
