I failed my first CLEP today...
#1
Yep. I failed Information Systems and Computer Applications today. Sad My failing score was 48; I will admit that I am still a little bit sad about it. However, it is sort of a happy day too because I passed Introductory Sociology about an hour later with a 66.

Information Systems and Computer Applications is a tough exam. I took 3 Peterson's tests and scored 66%, 57%, and 55%. Not enough to pass the real deal this time though folks. I swear that I was staring at the computer screen with my famous "deer in headlights look" pretty much the whole darn time. Probably only about 15% of the questions were relevant to anything on the IC flashcards, and unfortunately, the Peterson's tests didn't help too much either.

In any case, I walked out of the testing center with my head held high for two reasons. Number one, I passed Introductory Sociology and earned 3 more credits. Number 2, I can honestly say that I studied quite hard for the ISCA exam and still didn't score high enough to pass. It would be much more depressing if I was left feeling like I could've, would've, or should've studied harder for it. Anyway, I will be taking the computer class at my college because this exam seemed to be the "mother of difficult" for me :o

Bummer..... I failed an exam too, and it was pretty upsetting! But, you are right- you passed sociology and that is something to be VERY happy about!!! So, congrats on that!!

I am chosing to ignore the test you failed today and so should you. You passed your sociology test and got 3 credits today for your effort. Would 6 have been nice? Sure, but I still think you did great regardless.

Keep up your winning attitude! By the way, I passed my Princ of Mgmt test today that I wouldn't have even had the nerve to take if it hadn't been for your post last week. So, you technically deserve some of those credits. Ah, if only you could get credits for "inspiring" others.

Glad you walked out of there with your head up high. Keep it going and thanks again.

Best wishes,
Kelly

Dont feel bad you tried hard and came close. If its any consolation when I took this exam my thought was that they really need to update the exam as it was very dated and most people who hadnt been around and probably in the industry awhile (read you younguns) probably wouldnt have heard of half the stuff let alone know what it is. My other thought was if you used up to date books to study for the exam you probably wouldn't do that well.

Thanks guys. I am trying to decide what is next. Currently, I am teaching myself algebra out of a college textbook that I bought on Amazon, which I know is crazy, but I think it is working out pretty well so far.

I think my next project is going to be DANTES "Ethics in America". What are you guys working on right now?

Trying to do 2 CLEPs in one day is impressive by itself. I think a lot of it is luck sometimes with what test you get. I took Info Systems about a month ago and the only reason I passed was because I knew a lot of the stuff already. Very nice score on sociology though Smile
