ELEMENTS OF ALGORITHMS & COMPUTATIONS
Introductory
This course provides a strong introduction to students new to computer science and programming.
With the multi-faceted and easy-to-learn Python language, you will go beyond the basics of programming to learn actionable strategies for real world problem solving.

You will learn the principles of computational thinking as a strategy for tackling problems in architecture, environmental biology, natural language analysis and visual recognition.
=======================

hey, that sounds interesting
let me click the link

Haha, what a cash grab.
They're a great university though but too expensive.
That tuition for one course is 2/3 of my entire degree program cost.

Private college/university tuition for 2016 now exceeds the old "$1000 per credit" average. I do a presentation and had to update my slides <gag> Without looking it up, it's nearly $1100. Insane.

EDIT: I forgot to say that we are talking about UNDERGRADUATE tuition, not grad school :willynilly:

And this increase with waaaay less access to scholarships (which tend to be very specific). But "don't worry, you can take some very-easy-to-get loans" <ugh>

And the best part is that it's for an introductory Python programming course!!! My 12-yo son taught himself Python via a book from the library (Python for Kids) and some free online courses through CodeCademy! He spent exactly ZERO dollars and probably learned as much as you can in this course! ANYONE can learn these types of courses for free all over the internet.

Not saying that he could be hired as a Python programmer, but then neither could the person who took this $3,000 course and nothing else.

The average student loan debt for a graduating senior at Rice was $22,241 for the 2013-2014 school year. While that isn't as low as some of the Ivy League schools, it's still a lot less than expected considering how much they charge. There is hardly anyone who can pay $1,000 per credit hour for a whole degree and schools know this. Students cannot receive anywhere close to that amount in federal loans. For parent federal loans and bank loans, they will need to have good credit. Private universities that are this expensive often offer a lot of grant aid.

Many private universities have large endowments and fund a lot of tuition through it - not many students pay the rack rate at these colleges. If you get accepted into Harvard and your parents make less than $65k, your tuition is completely free, and if they make less than $150k, they only have to pay up to 10% of their annual salary for your tuition ($15k).
