The University of Texas Permian Basin lists as “coming soon” an online MA in Mathematics in a choice of Pure Mathematics track or Mathematics Education track. Both tracks offer a thesis or non-thesis option. The non-thesis option entails a comprehensive exam with a retake available.
Total tuition is $11,729.70 for the 30-credit program. “Additional fees may be added.” UTPB Online extends in-state tuition to all.
Admission requirements are unusually flexible. There’s no stipulation about bachelor’s major, amount of math coursework, or list of several math courses to have taken. You will need at least one of these or its equivalent with a B or better: Math 4315 Algebraic Structures or Math 4360 Intermediate Analysis (that code is also listed as Theory of Real Analysis). You will have needed the prior math knowledge to succeed in that course. GPA in the last 60 hours of 3.0 qualifies for regular admission, of 2.75 may be considered for conditional admission. Further details on admission requirements at the links.
