Hey, so I saw an inspiring post regarding COSC's potential reduced costs and took a look at their Mathematics Concentration. They can award 24 credits for a good GRE score, but I think I might not be prepared for it yet. In college I was mostly doing math but I guess I have forgotten a lot. It looks like quite a heavy test (judging from the sample test I downloaded) and I'd have a long road of preparation for it.
I'm just wondering if anyone else here has written it, and can give their opinion on how tough they feel it is.

Don't forget that you'd be primarily competing against people trying to get into a good graduate program in math, and would need to get at least to the 40th percentile. Given the massive breath of material on the test, I think you'd be advised to take courses. You'll need several more courses(maybe 5 more) to complete the concentration even if you are able to test above the 40th percentile. Math is something that is best acquired through practice of the sort that math courses require you to do.

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I'm a man who sees a mountain and wants to climb it, just because it's there. Other times i'm a man who sees a couch and tv, and lies there watching tv for hours on end, because it's easier.
I think it'd be an interesting challenge. Perhaps after I brush up on my math I'll just give it a go, without any pressure. I'd like to put that on my resume, but I think upon reflection, it's not really a practical thing to do, in terms of getting credit. It would definitely be easier to do ALEKS or CLEP to fulfill these credits
