Hi everyone. Thank you for all the help you have rendered on this forum. You guys are all wonderful. Finally, I got my TESC evaluation after a long wait. Though I did not get an email notification yet, I found the evaluation result waiting for me as I logged in to my account today. I felt like jumping over the balcony. And yes, I am still in the celebration mood.
I would really appreciate your help as I have a few questions relating to my evaluation result which I pasted below. If I am interpreting the evaluation correctly, I was awarded 96 credits and I still have 26 credits to go.
Below, I have tried to interpret the evaluation the way I understand it. I need someone to please look into my interpretation, crosscheck it with the evaluation, and confirm whether I am on point. Also, I am totally confused on the SPECIALIZATION and the GMS= General Management elective areas.

1) GENERAL EDU
Under--- A: Intellectual Skills, it seems I have ONLY English Comp 1 and 2 to complete = 6 CR
2) CORE
Under---C: Compu Lit/Intr CIS = I need to take a computer course= 3 CR
-----Will TECEP Course Computer Concepts and Applications (CIS-107-TE) fulfill this??? Any other cheap alternative?
Under---D: Princ of Finance= I need to take a Principle of Finance course
-------Can someone please recommend any CHEAP course to fulfill this please? It seems there is no TECEP course to fulfill this.
Under--- F: Intro to Marketing = I need an Intro to Marketing credit
-------- Can either TECEP's Marketing Communications (MAR-321-TE) OR Sales Management (MAR-322-TE) work for this??
Under---H: Strategic Management = I need the CAPSTONE and I will take TECEP Strategic Management (BUS-421-TE)
Under--- Area of Study: BSBA in General Management= I need 18 CR and if I understand the evaluation correctly, I have 11 already and I need 7 more.
--- Can someone please help to suggest courses, probably TECEPs, that can fill the remaining requirements if the below plans don't make sense.
My plans are:
Group 2 TECEP FIN-331-TE Financial Institutions and Markets
Group 3= They fixed Organizational Behavior here. I think this ought to go for Group 4. If I am correct that ORG BHV does not fit in here, then I intend using TECEP Advertising (MAR-323-TE).
Group 4 This is where the confusion lies. I don't understand what the evaluation states here. I will appreciate any help here towards understanding this part and what courses I could use (preferably TECEP or other cheaper alternative) to fill this.
For [B]Business Electives, it seems I need 1 CR. Can someone recommend a 1 credit course, please?

Okay, so I have a few suggestions. Sorry, I don't know more about fulfilling your core requirements. I'm sure someone else will chime in with help for that. Anyway, I put my suggestions in red below.
Saharapost Wrote:2) CORE
Under---C: Compu Lit/Intr CIS = I need to take a computer course= 3 CR
Saylor.org - Introduction to Computer Science I CS101: Introduction to Computer Science I « Saylor Academy
Under--- F: Intro to Marketing = I need an Intro to Marketing credit
Saylor.org - Principles of Marketing BUS203: Principles of Marketing « Saylor Academy
Under---H: Strategic Management = I need the CAPSTONE and I will take TECEP Strategic Management (BUS-421-TE)
Another option could be the Penn Foster class BUS 425 - Strategic Business Management, if you didn't want to take the TECEP. It costs $235 and includes the textbook. I don't have a lot of information on it since I haven't taken it yet, but try a forum search. I think there's info out there. I'm planning on taking this course.
If you want more info on the Saylor courses, check out this link or post them here or send me a pm. I used several of their courses recently. The courses are self-paced, completely online, and are free except for the proctoring, which is either $25 if you use ProctorU or if you get your own proctor, it would be whatever they charge.
Credit Aligned Courses « Saylor Academy
National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) « Saylor Academy
Hope that helped!

Thank you, Horsemaniac. I understand I could use Saylor and/or PF for those areas you suggested in red. Reason I did not initially refer to Saylor and PF was because I am trying to meet the TESC residency requirement using TECEP. The more TECEPs I am able to take to meet the residency, the better for me. Or, does taking ANY 24 Credits TECEPs fulfill residency even if I use Sayor, PF, SL to meet the remaining credits? I was wondering whether it is possible to use SL, Saylor, and PF in testing out the remaining credits and then just sit ANY TECEP (insofar they meet 24 Credits) to meet residency. If this is possible, it is still cost effective than paying enrollment fee... Thanks for your response.

The TECEPs have to be used for your degree. All you have to do is make sure 8 TECEPs are applied to your degree and everything else can be whatever.

Okay, I see! Sorry, I must have missed that part. I guess if you have your 8 TECEPS already you could look into Saylor, but otherwise you'll need to do the TECEPS. Sorry about the confusion!

For Principles of Finance I'd suggest the DSST. There does not appear to be a corresponding TECEP. I noticed you don't show any CLEP or DSST's in your signature. Is there a reason why you aren't doing any of those exams?
All the TECEP exams can be found here Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings
You can do your two English courses as TECEPS
To answer your question about the groups . . .
You have to take classes in at LEAST three out of the four areas. So you could take Accounting, Finance and Management classes. or Accounting, Management and Marketing. Or some classes in from all 4 areas. They just don't want you taking all 18 credits in only one area or two areas. Since you already have two areas in Accounting and Management, you just need to make sure you include classes from one other area, either Marketing or Finance.
TECEPs that (I believe) fill Group 1 Accounting Requirements
Federal Income Taxation ACC 421
TECEP's that (I believe) fill Group 2 Finance Requirements
Financial Institutions and Markets FIN 331
Security Analysis & Portfolio Management FIN 321
TECEP's that (I believe) fill Group 3 Management requirements
MAYBE Negotiations and Conflict Management NEG 401 would fill this.
Operations Management OPM 301
(There are also a few DSST's you can take to fill these requirements)
TECEP's that (I believe) fill Group 4 Marketing requirements
Marekting Communications MAR 321
Sales Management MAR 322
Advertising MAR 323
In answer to your "Principles of Marketing" class I would suggest Saylor as the least expensive option. I don't think TESC will take another marketing class, but since I'm still waiting for my evaluation, I'd ask more experienced people to write in on this.
You need 8 courses or 24 credits for residency.
Take two English TECEPs
Take the Strategic Management TECEP
Take three more TECEP's from your General Mang. specialization (you need at least 7 more credits in this area)
Thats six TECEPs so you need 2 more. . .perhaps the CIS would work, but I don't know. I think you could always take two more TECEPs in your area of specalization since there are a lot of Business TECEP's available and use them to replace some of the others you had.
Then you can still take Saylor for Principles of Marketing.
I don't know the answer to CIS, although I do know there is either a DSST or a CLEP for this one.
I hope this makes sense as I'm really tired and not sure how coherent this sounds.

Thanks you everyone for the detailed responses.
I could not take CLEP or DSST because I was unable to find a center near me in Bratislava- Slovakia and I was not willing to travel to UK or Germany(cost factor) when I could use SL for most of them...
I will use Saylor for Marketing but I'll first consult with an Academic Advisor to figure out if any of the marketing related TECEPS could be used for this. I have written to LSC @TESC, asking them to look into my PF ACE recommended Computer Application -CSC104 as I believe the contents and learning outcomes of this course "matches" with Computer Lit/Intr CIS or (as my evaluation reports put it) "ANY Introduction to Computer/Computer Literacy/ An Introductory Computing course". I'll update this thread regarding what TESC says on CIS and my PF Computer Application credit.
